I don't know what to make of these spring games. The #1 QB working with the #2 OL and 1/2 the #1 RBs and Receivers. There was no clear #1 team out there. I would rather have seen the #1 offense going against the #1 defense. Tyler Brey looked bad. Justin Coleman, a true freshman, looked like an ACE at cornerback. Linebackers looked average. Williams looked strong at running back. He has been held back with knee injuries before this season. A very critical writer graded out the different positions. I think he is a little overly critical but not by a great margin. Here is his report card.
Just watched the Gator spring game last night ( DVR ) and the same kind of misleading scenario existed in Gainesville with the #1 OL almost all out with injuries and only Chris Rainey out of the top 4 RBs playing against the #1 defense which looked pretty good against lower competition. Our #s 2 and 3 Qbs.....Tyler Murphy and Jeff Driskel looked very promising and I think they will push Brantley hard in the fall. When Driskel tucked and ran he looked eerily similar to...... ....you guessed it.....Tim Tebow. If Meyer were coaching i know we would see Driskel in a short yardage package or two but you never know now where Chollie might go with this thing. Man.....I have to admit he looks good in a Gator shirt on the Swamp sidelines as an OC. I think it's just hard to tell what gives on offense when so many of your OL is out.
Maybe you do, but I'll bet that when he was roaming the ND sidelines you wouldn't have found many complimentary posts about Charlie on Gator Forums!
Thanks for binging the topic back in line Jim. We know how Dave can't comment on anything without making it Gator related. For the first time since I remember, there were ZERO injuries in the O&W game. That was coach Dooley's main positive comment about the game.
It's so hard to really tell much out of the spring games. The injury report may be the most important result. :?
Just commenting on the fact that you can't tell much from a spring game when the #1 offensive unit isn't working the field together and it seems as if that was the case at both Tn and Fla. Most every pundit I have read expect some improvement at UT this season but anything major......like competing for the East Title might surprise people. I could see Tn at 8-4......being competitive in the losses and pretty much satisfying the Vol nation as showing some good improvement.
