The rule book is thick, covers nearly every possible situation that you can come up with. But they need to insert a rule that if the human eye can't detect it, it didn't happen. Padraig was DQ'd over a ball moving on the green when he replaced it and moved his ball marker. Now it didn't move to the human eye and when looked at on regular TV no motion can be detected. But when a HD-TV with super slow motion is used it can be detected. He of course was DQ'd for signing an incorrect scorecard. BTW this was apparently called in by a golf fan. I mean what kind of fan watches golf and calls in apparent rules gaffes anyway. Camillo was dq'd for swatting at a patch of grass that might have been in the path of his ball rolling back down the hill after a bad chip, turns out it wasn't but still got nailed (by a fan) for improving his lie. I'm thinking golf needs those 4000 frame/sec video cameras, you know the type that can slow down a bullet going through an apple, rain drops hitting a lake, etc. I'll bet if they put those on every guy who pulls his marker away from his ball that there will be detectable movement. But it's stupid, no competitive advantage is gained. If a human eye can't see it didn't happen IMHO! Padraig DQ'd
I see that Tiger says he's ready and that for the first time in years he's feeling great both physically and mentally. To me that's dangerously close to your typical over the hill athlete saying he's in the "best shape of his career"...then gets cut in training camp!! We'll see of course, but I'm still in the camp that thinks Tiger's day is over, he'll still be one of the best players, but never again dominant like he was and I don't think he'll win another major.
I'm not convinced his day has passed. Too much talent and experience and still young. Whether he can regain his confidence remains to be seen.
 If anyone could come back after a full swan dive into an open septic tank it's Tiger Woods. What made him great was his ability to handle pressure...
I see that Tiger ended yesterday tied with the guy in Green above, 8 strokes behind the Leaders....going to take a helluva a finish. BTW 2 of my nephews team mates from A&M have their tour card, Bobby Gates ended yesterday tied with Tiger and Martin Piler was much further down the list. But it's the first cut for both of them on the PGA Tour, they played the Nationwide last year.
He works for PWC and the partners always take him to club member/guest and stuff like that and he and another team mate who also works for PWC played in some tournament up in the Dallas area. Jr Accountants don't have a lot of time for golf though.
Old Phil damn near pulled off the eagle shot....did anyone see where his pitch mark was?......those are guys are good. And when's the last time anyone saw the flag being tended on a 100 yard pitch shot?
I did not know that the pitch could be tended, we've always played that you either had it in or out, only tended when your ball is on the green.
I've seen the flag tended for putts off the green (on the fringe) so I know it's legal from anywhere...still kind of unusual.
Of course in reality the only reason to tend the pin when putting from on the green is visualization of the hole, has to be removed before ball goes in hole, as hitting the pin is a penalty. When chipping one of the reasons to leave it in is the hope that your chip will hit it and drop in or not go very far esp if you are chipping down hill. Of course leaving the pin out while chipping means there is more room for the ball!! I just never knew you could tend the pin while chipping, as I said in our group we've always played you have to have it in or out. I can't really think of many instances where I want it "tended" unless I can't see the hole very well while chipping and wanted it out.
Maybe he was pitching from down in the holler where there was a blind spot in regards to seeing the hole.
Hmmmm I'don't think I'd say this even if I were playing with gipper, Stu or AJ! Tiger Threw in the Towel
That's quite an indictment of Tiger. He was about 6 over in his last 27 holes at Torrey. He used to own that course. He's completely lost his mental edge. I thought that you were premature to write Tiger off in the majors Doc, but I'm beginning to think you might be right. That's going to hurt the PGA tour big time.
You know I feel the same as Tiger, I feel my game is really close to coming together and have for 40 years!!
Well, let's see....Tiger's 35 and has won 14 majors.....Jack won 6 after reaching the age of 35....hmmmm. Gonna be interesting.....
Tiger goes down to Thomas Bjorn....never going to catch Jack. And I thought I was the only one who could hit a 3 wood so far off line that it took 2 shots to get back to the fairway!
