"To wrap up, I'd like to thank ESPN's Mike Patrick for providing quite possibly the strangest moment in recent college football broadcast history (and thanks to Allen for sending the link). If by chance the YouTube police have taken it down by the time you read this, Patrick went on an inexplicable tangent about Britney Spears ... right before Georgia's winning touchdown pass in overtime." MCG's take: I was incredulous and confused by Patrick's remark but now I think he was trying for sarcasm that didn't work. Sorta like..."people are concerned about Britney while CFB on Sat. in the SEC is going on?" At least that's what I think he meant...... :?
Also I sure was glad Tod Blackledge was able to get in his great piece of reporting on the tailgating outside the stadium. Hell, I didn't want to see that play anyway. And if we are going to miss a play, then we might as well talk about the food for another five minutes. Maybe next time they can block the video of that pesky football game, after all, all it did was distract us all from that great report. COME ON!!!!! THIS IS ESP !@#$ingN
ESPN is crap and <t>the sooner you all realize that, the better.

I saw that moment and openly stated at the time "WTF is he talking about?" (but I didn't use the abbreviation).

I think there was a time, a long time ago, that ESPN really cared about journalistic integrity. They haven't for some time now. The bottom line is that went "Jerry Springer" on the sports world a long time ago.

They should be looking for the next Jim Murray. Instead they spit out the 'boo-ya boys' like Stuart Scott....or the endless stream of columnists (not reporters, big diff btw and some of you should learn that) like Forde...

ESPN sells sizzle, not substance. Their production values are sh*t. Dying are the days of the Vin Scully... Long live the 'w00t w00t' generation of reporters. Its a shame we don't demand more.... This is a fantastic generation in the world of athletics that is cheapened by the thrift-store cologne that is Sports Media.

ps
and just for KP, if ever one needed evidence of ESPN being contrarian just for the sake of doing it... ANYONE who says that Archibald's has better ribs than Dreamland in Tuscaloosa....has never eaten at either, or is just being an a$$h0le..

i vote both</t>
Corey, Never been to Archibalds, but the Dreamland is Tuscaloosa has some damn good BBQ. What does Blackledge know about BBQ. About as much as Martha Stewart knows about pole dancing.
How about some Britney shots of her and Paris getting out of the Limo? Hey....tell me you wouldn't.....
