8) Will Little Kiffin fire his own daddy? Yes. To save his own miserable neck he will... Things are heating up around here. Someone tossed dye bombs in the UCLA swimming pools and dyed the water USC colors... Meanwhile, across town... Someone tagged the USC practice facility with spray paint and burned the letters "UCLA" into the grass. They also painted the flagpoles in the Bruins colors: powder blue and gold...
I'd be curious to hear Corey and JO'Co's take on UCLA currently. This is the 3rd year for Slick Rick/Chow and company. They don't look very good in their 3rd year, are they poised to take off? Are they poised to take advantage of the sanctions on USC or will Oregon and the NoCal teams swoop in and prevent that?
Slick Rick took over an awful situation. He inherited no OL and the ones he recruits wind up with season and career ending injuries. I'd really have to think that a move would be made in their strength and conditioning dept. The last 2 years, they've just been gutted by injuries. I'm not happy with it, but I understand why it has happened for the most part. I think that, in the end, the divide is going to help USC and UCLA. Colorado just hired a guy who really only holds a claim to fame that he recruits LA.
I tried to watch it after the B12 game, but the quality of play was horrible. I went to bed. Gawd Texas must be worst than I thought to have lost to that UCLA team at home. Corey they don't even look well coached.
I would tend to agree with you Terry except that you aren't really looking at what they are dealing with. When you're talking about guys starting on the OL who were 3rd string DLs that you needed to just move over out of need.. you aren't going to get a lot of high quality. I still don't know about this pistol business... I was happy with the old Chow offense.. However, we just don't have the #s to line up and play in an offense that isn't a scheme/gimmick.. Yeah Texas wasnt strong, neither was Houston.
Are the Bruins poised talent wise for a turn around? You mentioned all those injuries, when they get those guys back next year (assuming there isn't another year of injuries) will they be deep and talented enough to challenge for the Pac10 championship? Are they poised to reel in a great class in recruiting this year? Will Slick Rick/Chow be on the hot seat next year?
I don't know. I believe the last report I saw told me that UCLA had 16 players this year undergo surgery and 12 of them were season/career ending. ... That's a lot. At some point in time though, a move has to be made. It's not like Chow or Rick forgot about football. I am really wondering about our SnC/Nutrition program. I know people don't like to think of that stuff but it's more important than they realize.. Something is wrong there though..
 The word out here is that Neuheisel is safe for at least one more year. The last guy left the cupboard bare at several key positions and injuries have perpetuated the problems. Everything will be reevaluated at season end (now) and Bruinites are demanding the heads of the assistant coaches. Even Chow's job is on the line. He may have to junk the Pistol and return to an offense that everyone understands or he'll be gone too...
