I looked up this guy's bio. He seems like a reasonably accomplished and intelligent guy. Why he would make such a stupid statement is beyond me. I'm sure that his gaffe will make the rounds on the internet, and when the dust setttles, he will regret his assinine remark. If not, he deserves the retribution that will rain down on him in the form of emails and phone calls.

By the way, here is his bio, his phone number, and his email link:

How did that goofball become A.D. at any university?

ETSU? Is that one of those tractor trailer driving schools or where you learn to buy real estate with no money down?

Oh, for god's sake. Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy.

At least they spelled his name wrong in the article.

Livengood has been a pretty good AD, though he did preside over the "resignation" of Dick Tomey and the hiring of Lackovic (one of the worst hires in U of A athletic history). Hopefully this season will see marked improvement under Coach Stoops, who also was a Livengood hire, along with Andy Lopez in baseball.

To the Notre Dame alums - I am very sorry those remarks were made by someone associated with dear alma mater. Personally, I have a great deal of respect for Notre Dame, in terms of both education and athletics, primarily based on my association with this board.

    Livengood should know better.

    Rick

Thanks, Rick. I'll take your email address off the retribution list. :)

Just kidding, of course. Actually, I'm glad to know that someone outside the ND group sees it as a verbal blunder.

Like BDR, I cannot condone these insults against such a fine university and have nothing but the highest regard for the intellectual powers of my ND Skybox comrades....

Actually, I kind of identify with Mr. Livengood, because our backgrounds and academic credentials are almost identical. Both of us were pretty fair high school basketball players, attended a local junior college and graduated from a local state university. Where I pull ahead is my degree was in Political Science and his was in PE, while I'm getting my masters degree online and he went to BYU...

Ah the wrath of the Irish... 8)

I'd say while his comment was woefully misinformed, it was totally aimed at getting football back at his school, and not at slandering Notre Dame. People will do some stupid things if they think it will aid their goals...

    I'm sure now he's thinking:

"Hey... Notre Dame is a fairly small school... how many emails could I get?"

    heh heh heh...

OK I had to drop a line,

<<You couldn't have really said that about Notre Dame could you? When I attended ND 41 years ago it had some pretty impressive students. Now mind you, they couldn't possibly have gotten into schools like Arizona but many chose ND over Michigan, U of Va., Vanderbilt and Northwestern. I'm so glad that those of us who attended Mickey Mouse Notre Dame were able to succeed enough in life to endow the school with the billions it has in it's fund. Imagine what we could have done with a quality education.

Here is my email to our boy...

    Dear Sir,

As a Subway Irishman and a graduate of a state university; I have a question for you. How is it that none of the many Notre Dame graduates that I know has ever said anything so thoughtless, untrue and reckless as your "Mickey Mouse" reference to the University of Notre Dame? Inquiring minds want to know.

What I love about Gip's and JO'Co's emails is that this guy is going to find out he's not dealing with your typical angry mob. We are an intelligent and well-spoken angry mob. Methinks we haven't heard the last from Mr. Livengood. We'll see.

    Stop the presses! Summon BDR!

I received a reply from Mr. Livengood. He wrote it at 5:45 AM his time. I haven't checked out the article yet, but I will before the day is over.

    Here is his reply:
