Two weeks ago, I thought he was going to be out a year with a torn ACL or PCL after he suffered an gruesome extension injury to his knee while trying to block a lay up against ATL. Instead, he missed only two games and tonight he made this incredible block to save the game tonight and even up the finals at 2-2.
Pat has come up big in the playoffs especially after the season ending injury to DiVincenzo against the Heat. Excellent rebounder, plays solid defense, and has hit some big time buckets in critical moments throughout the playoffs.
I'm torn as to who I want to win. Pat was one of my favorite all-time ND players and then there is a great story in Monty Williams who had to battle back from Heart Issues to finish his excellent career at ND under Digger and then a few years ago lost his wife in a terrible accident. Deciding factor is that I'm not a Chris Paul fan though!
For a young man who started learning English when he moved from Greece to Milwaukee in 2013 at age 18, Giannis is now pretty damn eloquent when speaking English
I had seen this, sent to me by my grandson. All young people should listen to his words. A true picture of humility.
Very impressive. Here is an article about him backing up what he said in last nights game. NBA Finals: Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo backs up viral 'humility' speech with unselfish Game 5 performance
The Bucks playoff run has been an emotional roller coaster. I thought we were done and dead when the Nets beat us by 40 in game 2, when we coughed by a late 4th Q lead in G5 in New Jersey, when Durant hit the 4th Q buzzer shot in G7 that looked like a game winning and season-ending 3pt. shot only for the game to go into OT when a review showed that his toes were on the 3pt line, when Giannis looked like he blew out his knee in G4 in Atlanta, and when the Suns blew us out in games 1&2. I am trying to keep euphoria in check for G6 as I hate to think how how my emotional state would spiral downward if the Suns bite us in the ass tomorrow.
I suspect the blonde Suns fan sitting to the left of Giannis has been experiencing some of my emotional highs and lows during these playoffs. Also, Lebron needs a course in Maskwearing 101.
Pulling for the Bucks. Not many teams lost the first two then won it all. NBA Finals: Bucks stand to join exclusive company of championship teams overcoming 2-0 series deficits
Last night he scored 50 points to lead Milwaukee to its 1st championship in 50 years. After a night of no sleep, he makes a late morning trip to Chick-Fil-A to order “50-piece McNuggets”
That was quite the crowd outside the arena last night. Sort of reminds me of the 1st NBA Championship that the Rockets won, I was up at midnight at the local sporting goods store that had stayed open to sell Rockets Championship gear. Parties until dawn all over town. Maybe even Milwaukee ran low on beer and cheese curds this morning!
In this day and age Giannis is very impressive guy and a fresh air to many of the other super stars. I root for Milwaukee if for no other reason than him and his loyalty.
