Watching Game Day from Gainesville. Urban Meyer on right now, the Swamp in the background. Wow I want to be there but the wife's knee won't allow it so we'll be here in our living room watching the Gators play Miami. By next season she will have two new knees so we should be back to going more often. The Canes are......... GATOR BAIT GATOR BAIT
I'm with you Bill, got up early and did my yard work, now settling in for a (hopefully) glorious day of Irish football. Good luck to you, I hope the Gators win, by less than 20.5 points though!! Terry
Good article explaining why we only play Miami every few years. Interesting also that we play them in 2013 and the 14 week schedule occurs again in 2014 but Florida is looking to find a national opponent to play on a neutral site. I hope we do that. Also interesting that now that Miami plays in the ACC they don't want to play us every year either. Dooley: UF-UM doesn't work for UF or UM
Neutral Site Game? I seem to remeber that the Gators were looking for somebody to play in Orlando. The Alabama/Clemson game was a big hit in Atlanta. I think FSU has a game scheduled in the Georgia Dome as well, don't know who it is though. Irish are comming to Orlando I think to play somebody but I don't know who. From what I have learned though the biggest problem for teams is TV contracts. ND ran into problems when they started scheduling some neutral site games (1st one is next year in San Antonio), is that they (ND) were taking a home game and moving it and they want to control the TV, that is have it be a NBC game. But if they come to SEC territory and try to play a SEC team ...say UF in the Georgia Dome...they run into TV problems the SEC contract says all games played by SEC teams in SEC terrritory have to be televised by SEC TV partners. Same for the B12 and PAC10. So we play Wash St in San Antonio that way neither team is affected by the B12 TV contract. It would have made more sense to have played a B12 team esp Texas, Texas Tech, A&M or Baylor in San Antonio. But the TV couldn't be worked out. Gators could play the Irish in the Lucas Oil Dome in Indy or at Soldier Field in Chicago though!! Terry
Do you think Gator faithful would buy 40k worth of tickets for a early season non-conf game in the midwest? They would if the game was in the Georgia Dome that's for sure and I think that's what Clemson and Alabama did for their game. Of course I do believe that if in 2005 that Ohio State had been given 40K tickets for the Texas game they would have sold them all or nearly all. As it was they had 30k (supposedly) in Austin without tickets. So who knows. Texas A&M has a neutral site game with Arkansas in the new Jerry Jones stadium in Arlington, I'm guessing tickets will be evenly divided for that game. Arkansas fans travel to Dallas/Ft. Worth area pretty easily. Terry
To play Notre Dame early in the season? I sure do think we would. Unless one of the two teams were just plain 2nd tier. Of course I would like Atlanta better. 8) 8)
Just remember both you and Jeanne have surgically repaired legs... no jumping or leaping out of your chairs!!! Please!
We will try to be careful Terry, thanks for your concern. Miami move the ball this time and it's 7-3. Hope the Gators get another TD right now.
9-3 at halftime and I am not feeling that good. This young Miami team is giving the Gators all they can handle. We get the ball first in the 2nd half, I hope we move it for a td.
As much as I hate to say this, since the first couple of series Miami has been the better team. The Gators better suck it up or we lose this game.
Hard knocking football game. The Gator defense has performed above expectations but our offense is struggling. 16-3 ten minutes to go.
Excellent defense by the young Miami team, that Miami QB and RB also look good. If they can play with this level of intensity the rest of the year they will do very well. Gators are no doubt being frustrated but still making the plays when they need them.
I agree Terry. A lot of Gator fans were concerned about the Gator defense. If our defense did not play very well tonight we would be losing this game. Our offense has finally come alive the last two drives. 23 - 3 By the way I think the wife and I are both pretty lucky we contained ourselves or we could have kicked something and hurt one of our knees.  I think the Gators are finally in control.
Field goal with 30 seconds to go beat you huh Terry?  I'm not sure what I feel about Tebow being in the game at that point. It would be awful if he got hurt.
