Worth the fast round trip, we are headed back to NC this morning. What a game for the Gators. If Muschamp can win the next three games, Vandy, S. Carolina and Eastern Kentucky, then I believe he is back as Gator Head Coach next season. Our team came to play last night and it was a pleasure to be there and watch.
My thoughts exactly. The continuing problem I have with Muschamp is that he's the same guy that saw fit to continue on with Driskel vs. Missouri after watching the mistake prone Qb meltdown again vs. LSU after looking pretty horrible most of that game. Finally...Muschamp keeps JD on the bench and the offense plays with a fire I haven't seen since the win over FSU in 2012. Is Muschamp suddenly exonerated for such boneheaded stubborness?
Hell no, that dude is a dipshit. But don't let that take away from you guys WHIPPING GEORGIA'S ASS That was fun.
I think Will is a really good coach, he might not have been ready though for the type of job that UF is...might have been better off doing what Dan Mullen did and go to a mid level conference job to get your OJT for HC. But nobody can turn down a job like UF because you aren't prepared, it might never come around again and you might be the next Bob Stoops. Or not.
I'm not sure Dan Mullen wasn't ready the day he left Florida. After he finished his stint as a GA at Notre Dame, he quickly became attached to Urban Meyer. (Bowling Green-Utah-Florida) He was the QB coach until Meyer had to make him the OC. He was Urban's right hand man, and I would argue that Meyer never recovered from his departure. Mullen had to turn around something that was broken. The issue, as I see it, is that Muschamp inherited a program that was more broken than the school/fan base was willing to admit. All was not so perfect on the Urban front and there were quite a few elements of this program that were bordering on shambles. I recognize the arrogance. ND suffered from it near the end of the Holtz years and well through the Davie years. (although Davie is/was a dipshit.. but good DC, like Muschamp). At the same time, those things that are/were great at Florida seem to have been squandered by Muschamp.. yet he still keeps doing enough to keep his job. That has to be aggravating.
MCG, I think Florida has to finally realize that Tebow graduated. I'm serious. What I have seen is that the offensive scheme does not seem to match the personnel. :?
I think Saturday's drubbing of what had been a pretty good Georgia team showed that Muschamp hasn't squandered all of Florida's mojo just yet. He certainly has choked it to near death at times in the last two years. I have been wondering if Roper was as sold on sticking wth Jeff Driskel as it seemed Muschamp was. I wonder if Roper wanted to stick with him and maybe Muschamp didn't? But.... if I had to guess I would bet that Muschamp shoved Driskel down Roper's throat.
You can't just blame Driskel. I seem to remember plenty of games in which that kid was running for his life.
Corey, In this slide his decision making has been at turtle speed and extremely poor when it comes to making smart decisions with the football. He either holds on too long or runs with it too fast or unloads it in to double-coverage with an inaccurate arm. The offensive unit has clearly lost all confidence in his abilities and that has been apparent for most of his games played this season. Not all Driskel personally.... but his ineffective presence on the field and penchant for turning the ball over infected the entire offense.
Yes it is..... Georgia loses to either Ky or Auburn and Mo. loses two of three to Tn, Ark and Tex A&M. Then if UF beats Vandy and SC it's a three way tie and I'm not sure exactly how but UF could win the East in that scenario. UF is actually a dropped pass in the endzone vs. LSU ( or a defensive stop on 3rd and 25 ) from being 4-2 in conference play. From CBSSports: "Look who's still here! The Gators have a clear path to 5-3, or as clear a path as any team that just finished a game with three complete passes can have. The Commodores really shouldn't present too much of a threat, but Steve Spurrier is not going to lose a game in The Swamp without throwing everything he's got at his former employer. Even in the event of the Gators finishing 5-3, they would need a pair of Missouri losses and exactly one loss by Georgia -- a head-to-head tie with the Tigers at 5-3 does them no good -- to have a shot. But if that tie does happen, the Gators can win it on the strength of divisional record if one of those two Missouri losses is at Tennessee."
True Wendy.... both the Ky and Tenn games could have gone the other way. In those games Driskel was abysmal..... adding to the consensus that he had to sit. Consensus with just about everyone but the stubborn as hell HBC. That's why I say WM is off dead center of the hotseat but still on it.
Wendy, have I ever told you that I like you? I have a God daughter that is a Gator by relation to her two Gator parents. We have the best time poking at each other because it is always good natured. Bill too is that way. I categorize you in the same boat! How about coming around more often. 8)
Gators win again. Certainly possible that the Gators will be 7-3 going into the FSU game...I have to think that Foley is not going to fire Muschamp after 7-4 season that he beat Georgia decisively.
I think bowl committees and Foley need to add that Idaho game to the UF win column.... as meaningless as it seems. So .... if Muschamp goes 7-4 that's really 8-4 with a W over the hated Dawgs. Likewise UF's record at 8-4 is more attractive to bowls than 7-4. Hence I hated that we did not make that game up but maybe glad it was not made up in the bye week before the Georgia game....
