Word is the A&M administration is denying that anyone connected there has anything to do with it...... ...hell I believe it is the work of Will Muschamp. 8)
Nope they put up this in Longhorn Country, Austin Texas! I'm sure it was a bunch of Aggie boosters and not the A&M Administration though.
BTW Vanderbilt might have a thing to say about A&M having the best Academics in the SEC. And Aggies forget their record probation in them mid 90's, when players were caught getting paid for summer jobs that they never showed up to actually do.
This definitely juices up an already interesting game. I saw an early line of A&M -2 1/2...... UF needs to get some pep and execution on offense in a hurry for this one.
I certainly don't think they have better academics than Vandy. However I look at all this as fun banning. We will learn a lot Sat about both the Gators and the Aggies.
Not true Terry... they showed up, but then took naps in the tool shed rather than do maintenance work. A case of boys being lazy boys that was turned into something else by some very zealous investigative reporting... "Aggie Nation" is some Facebook thing as far as I know, and NOT part of A&M. I'm looking forward to this one... hopefully it won't be 900 degrees!
Since few wanted my opinions of this before, I'll keep it brief. Bill et all, get use to Texans. The thing you need to know about them is this.. They're kinda assholes.. but they are lovable, good people and share the same passions about life as you do.. They just do it A LOT like Alabama fans.. who are also assholes. You know that friend that you just love to death but man, he has the ability to piss people off? That's a Texan.. I get a long with a lot of Texans. Yes, I am aware of what that says about me. What Gators also need to know is this... This SHOULD (haven't seen them play yet) be the best offensive line you play beside Alabama (assuming you win the East) this year. Only LSU lines up 5 road graters like A&M and Alabama, but I don't think they are quite as good as A&M or Alabama in the trench. What A&M fans need to know... These guys are fast. They are 'Holy ****' fast. You're going to need to be prepared for that. Also, these guys are going to hit you from whistle to horn. It's like being hit by Oklahoma, but with heart. The Gators are historically troubled on the road unless they are playing Least opponents, but especially in the West. Kyle Field.. opening night.. this ain't the first rodeo for the Gators, but it will be as big and loud as anything they've seen. They need to be prepared for that. I'm looking forward to this. I want to see this new Aggie offense. I want to see if Florida have the patience to wait it out while this Boise State, power offense gets installed. (If you can, it will be so worth it) The Gators escaped a game at home against a team they should have smoked. The Aggies are much better and are playing at home.. I have a good feeling about Texas A&M. We'll find out if they are ready to 'belong' in the West. I am certain they have an unwritten rule there about beating the Gators when they come to your place in that division
Corey, Not sure at all what you meant by no one wanted your opinions on Texas A&M, the Aggies vs. Florida etc. You were analyzing Texas A&M playing in the SEC and I said it was hard not to mention the Gators because it was a milestone game for both Florida and the Aggies because it was their first SEC tilt. You took offense that I brought UF into the mix but this was and is a pretty big game of interest this Saturday: http://blog.chron.com/aggies/2012/09/espns-gameday-aggieland-bound-for-florida-showdown/ Gameday has only been to College Station twice this century......both for OU vs. Tex A&M.......and not since 2006. So....I was enjoying your SEC previews and appreciated your work on it but I think you were a little quick to judge my intentions when I brought UF into the discussion.
Thanks Corey. I kind of felt that way about Texans before. I believe you mean it in a manner where you like them, and for sure I like the Texas people I know lead by Dr O. As far as this banter, I think it's great and look forward to the day we can host the Aggies in the Swamp. This is a game where I think we learn a lot about both teams. So far there is not a lot to be optimistic with for the Gators. However I hope, and believe, that we played it very close to the vest last week and won't this week. I will be tuned in on Sat.
I hope that is the case Bill. Muschamp is even saying that maybe he personally throttled the Pease offensive strategy and after watching some of the predictable runs on third down go nowhere I tend to agree. Alabama we are not......so we need to try and be more Boise to succeed on offense.
I gotta weigh in here. First... let me say that all of my friends and I are VERY pissed about that billboard. We will give our friends in Austin hell til the end of time, but it is NOT our style to do anything like that to our new conference-mates. I am a little offended by some of what Corey said... he must've met a lot of Terry's fellow grads. (Actually Terry is very a-typical... he's a good guy!) I guarantee all Gator fans traveling to College Station will be welcomed like long lost family, and we'll do our best to make you want to return regardless of the game's outcome. We do think our state is best, but then most folks have a little pride in where they come from or they're not worth a darn anyway.
Aw shucks, you didn't have to say that! FWIW Scott is right I've been there with ND gear on and UT gear on and always had a good time.
Scott, I did not take what Corey said as negative, and I do not have any problem with the sign. I took it as some Aggie fans that are actually glad to be in the SEC and their way of stirring the pot but not in a nasty way. All in good fun. I wish I could be at the game.
I wonder what the over/under for weeks into the season before we commence our usual activities of getting into heated posts. Week 2 coming up....
I can attest to the friendly fans from A&M. At the Cotton Bowl, as sore of a subject as that is for Scott, A&M fans were friendly when the game started and their attitude toward us did not change to the end. I have a lot of respect for A&M. I have a God Daughter that has graduated from there and one that is now attending. Both teams being SEC and "family" relations on the A&M side, I'll have to lean towards A&M here. We may even try to pick up a ticket or two and go to the game. SCOTT... Which car should we drive?
