We get the ball to start the second half. If Crompton is still in the game, I'm turning off the TV and going out to do something enjoyable. The Tennessee staff has not helped the young man but he is in over his head. He needs to transfer to a lower division and sharpen his skills... if he can find what those skills are.
... until Tennessee shows me something, any time we show up in the contest it will be a given that I will be wagering max points on the opposition. Can we somehow get back to 1990's Tennessee football??? :?
I agree about Crompton, Tom. He looks pitiful. This is the worst Tennessee team I've seen play in my relative few years of watching college football. They're worse than the 05 version and, if they keep playing like this, will be lucky to match that team's win total. It's sickening to watch.
You're right Aquila! :? Well... we're outta here. I can't watch this crap any more. If by some long shot, Fulmer wakes up and pulls Crompton, we might stand a chance and the game is TiVo'ed. We'll be back later to congratulate the Gators.
Our kickoff returner, Brandon James, was either a 1 * or 2 * player coming out of high school. A number of internet Gator experts wondered why we recruited him. Goes to show you that the stars are not always the right indicator. Gators hold the first drive and take over at our 8 yard line. 20-0 Gators.
Nice win for you Gators. James played a terrific game. Difficult for Tennessee fans, much like we felt losing to USC! Don
Congrats to the Gators. I made a promise that I will not call for Fulmer's head and give him three years to turn the program around. I am a man of my word. I hope Phil gets it together sooner than later. Of course, we will find break away players next week. We always do. We lose to Florida and then take it out on the next team the next week. So predictable... so predictable. I just hope to see another win over Florida before I leave this world. :?
Tom, unless you are leaving this world quicker than I think you will I am sure you will see more wins over the Gators! 8) 8) I hope that it's just not to many.
Tom....I watched Auburn tonight and would be shocked to see UT win at their place and now Bama is looking real strong and the Vols are at Ga and at a surprising Vandy squad. The season may not go as last year's did......different Qb for Tenn and a significantly tougher schedule are the reasons.
I have a feeling that this article isn't too far off the mark: http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10987581 In this brutally tough SEC that we have today I don't envision Tenn getting things turned around for this season in particular.
What's the point MCG? You know the Tennessee fans in general and the McCords in particular are in agony with their beloved Vols and what they think of Fulmer. I don't see where rubbing the salt in the wound helps.
I know Tom vacillates between wanting to keep Fulmer and wanting him gone. It's a tough decision but look at how FSU was way too patient with Bowden. I don't think the Tenn fanbase will have that kind of patience....especially if the losses mount to rivals this year.....like Alabama in particular.
Not trying to rub it in...stir the pot...etc. but this post is from Gatorsports from a Gator fan who attended the game: "This is my 5th time up here in Knoxville for a game. This was much different than times before. Their fans seemed like UGA fans of the past. They just didn't think they could win this game. Before the game, opposing fans were asking, "What do you think?" I'd state that I think we have the better team but it's not easy coming up here...yada yada yada. They would mostly come back with, "Fulmer's soft" or "Crompton is horrible". None of them thought they were going to win. I had numerous fans of there come over at the bars after the game and apologize that we had to drive all the way up here and watch such a pitiful performance by their team. The fans went out after the game and were OK with the loss. In 2000 and 2002 their fans were pissed, still trying to talk trash after the games. We'll see how they handle playing AU and UGA next but it probably doesn't matter, as apathy truly has hit many within Vol Nation." From MCG: I was sitting yesterday with a Tenn fan I ran into in the Detroit airport ( I arrived in the middle of the 1st quarter from Dallas ) and we found a bar and watched the game together for awhile and got along pretty darned well. He was hopeful but not too confident about what was going to happen and I sensed he didn't have a lot of confidence that Tenn was able to come back and do anything. It was a little surprising to me but maybe that's the reality of it.
Total melt down with the people that usually comment on the KNS articles. The article is eye opening but the comments... if you think I was brutal on Phil last year... Check out the comments at the end
