Florida became the first college team in history to land three players in the top ten of the NBA draft on Thurs. with Al Horford at #3, Corey Brewer at #7 and Joakim Noah at #9. Well done boys... http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20070629/GATORS02/70629001
I was really happy for all of these guys but really glad to see Chris Richard go in round 2 ... to Minn w/Corey. I really hope Chris and Taureen Green find a place in the NBA.
Giving Ohio State it's due their two players Oden and Conley make it 5 players out of the top 9 in the NBA draft who were on the floor for the NC game in Atlanta. Pretty impressive....
No doubt it was a great year for both of our programs. I wish all of the draftees success in the NBA. Don
And.. <t>Check out the recent commits to Florida by HS kids so it will continue as it will at Kentucky/Gillespi. Rich get richer.</t>
HL, Supposedly Florida has the #1 ranked BB recruiting class for this year. UF also has Billy D to coach 'em up so I think the Gator BB program will be just fine in spite of losing such talent to the NBA. Hard to imagine that with all the great teams over the course of history at places like UNC, UConn, KY and Duke that Florida is the only team with three draft picks in the top 10 of the NBA draft.
I am absolutely sure of that. I also know that Tennessee fans are ecstatic that Cut and Fulmer are together again and Bruce Pearl is almost as big in Tennessee as Pat Summit!
Tom, I was pretty impressed with Pearl last season. If he finds more consistency this season the Vols could be mighty tough. Pat Summit is in a league of her own. I have always felt Fulmer is one of the elite coaches in the country. But it's still great to be a Florida Gator!!!
The way Pat Summit recruits Indiana's best (and the best from other states), it looks like TN's place at the top of womens BB is secure for a while.
