In Death Valley at night. Things don't look to promising for the Gators, but until proven otherwise I will continue to believe we can win. But as if it wasn't already enough of an uphill battle, the Gators had the distractions because of Tony Joiner, in the closed topic below. But I'm going to be glued to the tv tomorrow night watching the game. Another game I'm really interested in tomorrow is Tennessee and Georgia. The Gator interests would be better served by a Dawg victory, but I'm not sure they can pull it off.
Bill I've not had a good felling about this game. At the beginning of the season I saw it as best a 50/50 proposition as regards ending up a Gator win. Now, after watching the Gator offense over the 2nd half of the Ole Miss and all of the Auburn game, I'm not sure it will have much success against what seems to be a very good LSU defense. I think UF gets behind 7-10 points early, fights to get back into the game but LSU pulls away with a 3+ TD win on late game TOs by UF.
Florida Fans, I will be flipping back and forth between ABC (Ohio State-Purdue) this evening and your game on CBS. On paper, both should be excellent games. Don
I will be at a bar midst the OSU crowd wearing my Purdue hat. Maybe they will take pity on me and buy me a drink. Crazy John will be there with me...I wonder if he's gonna wear his Maize and Blue, his OSU shirt, or his Purdue shirt (he lived in Lafayette for several years.) I hope we come out alive. Disclaimer; they will protect us...we are their best customers!
Tell me something… What the heck was that play? Roughly 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter… Gators have the ball with a 1st and 10 to go at the Gator 41 yard line. The snap comes from center as you realize that all linemen except for the center are lined up wide right. The linemen never move. Tebow goes down with an eight yard loss. What was supposed to be the result of that alignment?
Highsmith should be put on the bench to think about that hit on Tebow out of bounds with about 4 1/2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. One more act like that could very well win him a ticket to watch this game from the stands.
Gators apparently made'em pay....17-7 Gators and from what I have seen they look to be the better team.
I agree about Highsmith Tom, and Les Miles was really hot the foul was called at all. Thanks Terry, but I'm not claiming to be the better team until we win the game. Our pass defense is still very soft, mostly due to youth, but very soft. But I'm very happy at this point. Stu, I can't bring myself to switch off the Gator game. It sounds like Ohio State is taking it to Purdue.
Gators leave it all on the field but come up a bit short. Les Miles goes for 4th and short 5 times on 4 drives and gets touchdowns instead of field goals and the Gators go down. Bad call on the part of the Gators waiting so long for a time out cost us about 30 seconds. But this is a very young Gator team, our players are as talented as LSU but not as experienced and it made a difference. Bottom line I'm proud of my Gators.
Tough loss tonight Bill but the Gators put up a helluva a fight and as you pointed out you are a very young team.
Thanks guys, I don't feel as bad after this loss as many others because of the youth of this team and how they hung in until the end. Realistically this was never going to be the Gators year as far as a BCS Championship, but we can still end of with a very good season and will be very tough next season. I just left Gatorcountry and am probably going to stay away the rest of the night. There are a lot of realistic posters there, but a lot who when the Gators ever lose think it's the end of the world. I can't believe some of the posts and just need to relax and go to bed tonight and be thankful that the Gators fortunes are in the hands of Urban Meyer instead of some of the internet posters who aren't realistic. Kudo's to Les Miles for going on the 4th downs and making it pay off.
great game <t>very well played on both sides...<br/> <br/> Im not too sure the better team won tonight, but I believe that plays to Florida's youth factor and Urbie's decisions (for the 2nd week in a row) down the stretch.<br/> <br/> IMHO, Urban has Tebowitis.. For once I thought the commentators made a good point in that Florida has to trust the WHOLE team and spread the ball around for this offense to work. Read the defense, take what they give you and ask players to make plays. Without that thesis, this offense doesn't work. He opened with that, and got away from it.<br/> <br/> Question, what is LSU going to do when that Dline graduates?</t>
Much closer score than I thought and happy with how the team fought. However, lose the TO margin competition on the road vs #1 team and rival, it's tough to win. Most Gators knew - now, whould they admit? - the offense needed to score a lotta points to win in 2007. I've been a little surprised by the Gator scoring defense in the last two games and a little disappointed by the offense. Hopefully, with the week off, Mullen and Meyer will find a way to generate a more consistent offense. Interesting to see that Tebow is still #3 in passing efficiency and UF has still allowed -0- yards in punt returns - only team in the nation to do so.
What a great game! <t>Both teams left it all on the field. LSU pulled out all of the stops and played their guts out to pull this one out of the fire. UF played their game of the year (so far) and came up just short. LSU going 5 of 5 on 4th down calls is amazing. Great game. Congratulations to both teams.</t>
I hit a wall about the time that LSU ran the fake field goal with about 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. I just wok up about almost 2 hours ago. I fell asleep confident of a Gator win. Much to my surprise, that dod not happen. Congrats to LSWho. Who thinks that LSU will drop at least one position after struggling to win this one by half of the point spread. USC dropped last week for the same reason. However, will Cal go from 3rd to 1st while idle? Was Ohio States 17 point win (7 point spread) enough to hurdle Cal and LSU to go from 4th to 1st? I'm not sure.
Obviously a tough well played game. UF showed up big time but a loss is a loss. I agree wasting those 30 seconds with 3 TOs remaining was inexplicable. In any event football as they say is a game of inches and in this game of 4 down football by LSU inches were all that they needed to eek this one out. A loss is a loss but this was one UF's better ones if there is such a thing.
