I just can't see Boise State as a top 10 team, I'm sorry this is not basketball where mid majors can be very good ala Gonzaga. Boise State has played a good schedule for them, but I can't see them being better than a 4 or 5 loss team if they played a major conference schedule or Notre Dames schedule. They belong down around 20-25.
Notre Dame may be better than Boise..but they sure dont deserve to be in a BCS game. They have been a huge dissapointment. The only reason they get into the sugar bowl..is because they are Notre Dame. Can you believe USC is still in the top 10?? Not that it matters..but its kind of ridiculous.
Well what other teams that are qualified (remember no conference can send more than 2 teams, so that eliminates a 3rd Big10 or a 3rd SEC team) deserve to go ahead of Notre Dame?[/u][/i]
Huh? <r>SS82,<br/> <br/> I need to hear the logic behind your assertions...<br/> <br/> Who should be in the BCS in place of ND, considering they are 10-2 against a pretty salty sched???<br/> <br/> Please name the 10 teams that would easily beat USC, and so should logically be placed in front of them??<br/> <br/> <E></E></r>
Everyone knows that Notre Dame is overhyped..except for their fans that are in denial about the holtz years being over. UCLA and M-State gave Notre Dame 2 wins. They should be 8-4 at best. Who really wants to see LSU spank Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl?? As for USC..they may be a top 10 team...but its ridiculous that they lose to unranked teams and yet they still only drop 3 or 4 spots. If that was any other team..they would barely crack the top 15. Gators #2 in the AP and Coaches. Things are looking good
Swamp, I'm on the Notre Dame people's side here. They are highly ranked and deserve the ranking. If we don't make the BCS Championship game I'm hoping we match up with Notre Dame. And it sure isn't because I think it would be an easy game.
This is a great sign for the Gators. But the Harris Poll isn't out yet and only one of the Computer polls are out. I read one person that thinks the Computer polls will be tied and if so it will come down to the Harris Interactive Poll. I'm on pins and needles.
Thanks, Bill, for being the voice of reason. Good luck. I personally favor Michigan, but IMO after last night's SECCG victory, FL has a sound argument and would be a good choice for the game.
OK so the BCS rules say you have to be in the top 14 I believe. So lets take away the guaranteed bids and those like Wisconsin and Auburn/Arkansas who are not qualified by virtue of being the 3rd team from their league, and see who's left for the at large bids. I've bolded the at large teams that are locks to get into the BCS. With the guaranteed slots to conference champs (6) and Boise State that leaves 3 slots. 1. 2. 3. Michigan 11-1 1,444 4. LSU 10-2 1,299 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. Notre Dame 10-2 923 12. West Virginia 10-2 800 13. 14. Virginia Tech 10-2 781 So now Swamp82 I want you to make the case that Notre Dame did not play as tough a schedule as WVa and VaTech and that those 2 teams are clearly more deserving of the bid than Notre Dame.
ND/AR <r>Geez, I can't beleive the love the Irish get here...<br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> What you really mean is Who really wants to see Notre Dame spank LSU in the Suar Bowl?<br/> <br/> When ND wins a close game over a lesser team somehow they were "given" the game", they didn't win it. Anyone else and it's always "well they got it done"... or "they found a way to win".. or "even on a day they weren't playing well, the got the win". didn't live up to the pre-season hype. The defense just it not good enough to keep any elite team under 30 points. Given that I'm still happy with a coach and team that have turned the program around very nicely and gotten it on the right track after the 2 previous staffs had seriously set them back. <br/> <br/> You are right about one thing, it was a dissappointing season in that ND didn't live up to the pre-season hype. The defense is just not good enough to keep any elite team under 30 points. Given that, I'm still happy with a coach and team that have turned the program around very nicely and gotten it on the right track after the 2 previous staffs had seriously set them back. Give CW a couple more seasons and recruting classes like last years and the one he is working on now and ND won't have any problem lving up to any hype. <br/> <br/> Having said all that though it seems every other team in the country can get by with a close win over a lesser team except ND who should always win every game by 3 TDs just becasue they ARE ND.....right. Give me a break.<br/> <br/> ND found a way to pull wins out and beat both UCLA and MSU when all odds said there way no way. Maybe USC would have like to have had a last minute drive over UCLA the way ND did. Oh no, that would mean the mighty Trojans got it done after playing flat most of the game right? or would it mean that UCLA gave them a gift and let them win just like they did against ND. please.......give me a break!!<br/> <br/> ND will take it's rightful place in the Sugar Bowl after a 10-2 season coming off the heels of a 9-3 season. I know all those wins should have been loses according to some ND detractors on this board but heck, something tells me I will have a very nice New Years day..........Go Irish</r>
I am not doubting they will make it in the BCS..because i know they will. Whether they deserve a BCS bid..is another story. Notre Dames biggest 2 game: Michigan and USC Results- Got Spanked in Both. Squeeked by Georgia Teach. Handed 2 games by UCLA and Michigan State. Is Notre Dame really a BCS team?? Lets not even mention their Defence...My moneys on LSU putting up 30 or 40. I have nothing against Notre Dame..but I simply think they get way to much love based on their past tradition.
Well I get that you don't think ND is a deserving team. What I want from you is why you think WVa or VaTech are more deserving? Plus I have to wonder if you view any come from behind wins by the Gators as gifts from the other team? Some how I doubt if you guys win late or escape a late comeback like you did vs So.Car, that you take anything away from your teams effort. ND won late against MSU and UCLA because they stayed and fought to the end, because they forced the other team to say uncle in the end. Sure I'd prefer to score first and never trail...but that doesn't always happen.
Coming from behind and winning shows a certain character, especially if you can do it consistently like S. Cal and Notre Dame has done. Sorry Swamp but your argument doesn't hold up, Notre Dame deserves this bid.
This is the kind of crap that really gets me. SC has kick blocked and give a game to the Gators and it's a great Fla victory. BS
Hey gipper, this may come as a suprise but I agree with you. Just keep this in mind, that's one persons opinion and not what everyone thinks. Perhaps the other teams mistakes contribute to a win, but if your team can't take advantage then it's not worth much. The Gators were really lucky on several accounts in that S. Carolina game but we took advantage like you did with Michigan State. I agree with your your analogy.
I look at it this way, Fla. is lucky UCLA didn't hand yesterday's game to USC like they did their game with ND. How lucky can you get?
Some of you Gator fans are real elitists. You been been winning close all season... for you these are great games. Notre Dame wins close and to you the other team gave it away. Amazing. All of the sudden its like you invented the game. Nothing nice to say about anyone. I hope you make the NC game so I can enjoy watching the Buckeyes kick your ass by at least 20 points.
Let me see if I understand this right George, one Gator makes those statements and now you want the Gators to get our ass kicked by 20 points? Hey, I'm on your side here guy! 8) 8) 8) 8)
