Nice article covering the Orange and Blue game yesterday. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/andy_staples/04/18/florida.spring/index.html?eref=T1 My son plays XBox 360 NCAA football and we have to wonder just how tough it will be for UF to lose in the upcoming 2010 version of that game with all else being equal. The comparison to USC 2005 is a good one and also with the threat at the end being the Texas Longhorns. I think Texas with McCoy will be a legit threat to upend the Gators in the title game but until then...considering their manageable schedule and returning talent Florida should sail to the title game unblemished.
This is the only thing that stood out for me in that article; The average is a 100 for crying out loud. How did they qualify for college? BTW, what was the attendance?
Did see that down in the links which I would be afraid to click on to see why the B/S. I doubt anyone in favor of UF posted that and I further doubt the truth of it. Announced attendance was 65,000 but I read somewhere it was more like 50,000.
What a load of ****... How can you prove/disprove that? Statements like that should either: a) Show that the person is doing nothing more than over-hyping the Gators or b) showing the weakness and lack of depth in the SEC.
You may not know much about John Brantley. He has a terrific arm and most likely would still have UF at preseason #1 even if Tebow had left for the NFL. I've seen Mallet throw and I've seen Brantley throw and maybe this writer doesn't know what he's talking about if he thinks Mallet is better than Brantley.
Naw George.....it's more fun to have the BCS controversy to talk about... I do think there is the potential for some games to get very ugly this year score wise for the Gators when I look at some of the huge margins of victory last year and then considering all the talent on the bench this year when the reserves come in. Like this guy.... http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/11642648 And to make matters worse there are some coaches out there doing their best to rile the Gators up months before the games are played. I think the only way to catch the Gators napping is to sneak up on em like Ole Miss did.....not run up and tweak em in the snout just to make sure they are angry and paying attention....
So let's get this straight. Tebow leading the Gators is the obvious best team in the SEC this year and the clear pre-season #1. The Gator back ups with Brantley at the helm is no worse than the 4th best in the SEC....and you think he is 'underrated'. Good effing God. I just watched the Gator spring game.. If that is, by Dave's estimation, the 3rd best QB in the SEC than the SEC is in deep ****.
LOL.....Jesus saves...Tebow wins... That's pretty good. I don't really think the SEC is deep in Qbs this year. There is a lot to replace out there like JPW and Stafford so who knows what is coming in but I can tell you Brantley has been in the Meyer system for three years and he has a very good arm....especially throwing deep.
OK now we have it, if the Gators lose a game because of Tebow being less than 100% that can not be the excuse for a Gator loss.
Sounds good to me. Tebow is "house money". Injury or sub par performance does not matter.... Brantley is ready to lead.
What about the kid from LSU who played in the bowl game? He did it on the field. I'm not knocking the kid's talent, but there is a big difference between doing it in practice and doing it in the game. Going by workout and practice reps alone, that kid from Auburn is suppose to be all-world. Instead, he's quite possibly the worst starting QB in the entire southeast region AND Auburn can't get rid of him now because he's black...somehow the worst 'racism' seems to fly whenever he is on the pine... but anyway, I am sure he's a fine young man and a great talent.. but holding a clipboard is a lot different than being the guy.
Jordan Jefferson: 16-25 for 142 yards and 1 TD vs. GaTech... Charles Scott ran for 3 TDs.... Solid outing for the kid in a bowl game but I don't think you can draw any permanent conclusions about his upcoming season just from that game. Same for Brantley...I'll agree the jury is out. Hopefully we only see Brantley in the 4th quarter of many games this year....which I suspect is the case. Sounds like JJ did pretty well in his spring game but maybe not as good as Jevan Snead did for Ole Miss.... http://cfn.scout.com/2/856003.html Watch out for the Rebs this year.
Geez AJ that's an advertisement that changes every time you visit. It said Gator IQ 111 when I read it and that is under rated.
Hey Corey, think you might carry on a conversation without using the word s***? It's obvious you will blast the Gators at any chance. But like it or not Brantley is a very good QB that would be starting for most SEC teams and should do very well on his own starting next season. Of course you will find a way to put him and anything else Gator down. I would play your game and say that's what all Irish fans do, but I know to many Notre Dame fans here where that's not true. The Gators will just have to move on with or without your approval, and we will do just fine thanks.
I wouldn't be shocked if there wasn't an opening in SB after this season but I would be very surprised to see Urban give up what he has now for an iffy proposition at Notre Dame.
