No one has talked about this game, but I think there is some real danger to the Gators. South Carolina is 7 - 3 and unlike last year has improved as the season progressed. They have a good defense and Spurrier may have found his QB in Garcia. His only problem might be keeping him in school as he seems to be a lightening rod for getting into trouble. Spurrier is still a Gator to his bone but while coaching against them would like nothing better than to beat the Gators. I had this game on my plan of games to attend this year, but with both the wife and I having left knee operations and me struggling a bit with the walking at the other two games we've decided to take this one in on tv. I like the Gators in this game but it may be a tougher game than many think.
Other than the "on any given saturday", and " you still have to play the game" I can't see this game being very competitive. I think that while 7-3 is a record I wish the Irish had at this point, they really have only played a couple of schools that are good and lost to both of them. Ga. and LSU, teams that that Gators destroyed. I would imagine that you guys will beat them by at least 30 points or more. Terry
I hope you are right Terry. Huskerman, I hope it's an ass kicking to the Chickens and not by the Chickens. I will say that the Gamecocks have only beaten the Gators one time since they came into the conference in 92, I believe 92, and we've played them every year. There were some very competitive games though, a couple where they had a 3 or more TD lead before we beat them.
If the game is at South Carolina at night then it might be more competitive. If you guys have them at home, I don't think they have much of a chance. Right now the Gators are focused and I don't think you could reasonably expect that they might come out flat against them and play down to their level and create a closer than it should be type of game. But it could happen of course. Bill do you think that against the Citadel that Urban will give Brantley a lot of time at QB? Terry
No, but I do have a program that I am supposed to do at home that I've gotten a bit lax with of late. My wife is still in PT for her knee replacement though.
On Thursday night football they were talking about USC as being the best team in the country right now. Maybe so, but they are not in a very good position with regards to the BCS and it is going to take a finish like last year from the leaders for USC to end up in the BCS championship game.
This one is in the bag boys, light up the victory cigar. Congrats. I didn't think it would be a close game So.Car just isn't that good even though they are in the top 25.
You can't spot a team like Florida 21 points and have any hope. Carolina's only hope was to have a flawless game and hope Florida made some mistakes. The opposite happened.
I have to admit that right now the Gators look like the best team in the country. I just love the way the Gator offense is just so multifaceted and explosive. Your running game is certainly unconventional but it's also very good. You've got great special teams and an excellent defense. I'll be really interested in seeing if the Alabama defense can slow you down. Terry
Terry, I am looking forward to finding out about that also. I really think Alabama is counterpunching this year. If the other team makes a mistake Alabama takes advantage of it. What worries me is what happens if Florida makes no mistakes? But first things first. AUBURN!!!!! They looked better yesterday and I really, really, REALLY want to beat Auburn. :x
Florida certainly continues to be explosive. They can hurt you in many ways. Assuming The Tide continues its winning ways, their match up should be a very interesting game. Don
I will stand by my original prediction of 35-20 Florida over Alabama. I think Bama will come to play and their defense will help the Tide stay in the game for most of the game but I look for a few mistakes by JPW because our secondary is playing so well right now and there is the Spikes factor. He is playing at an extremely high level and he might be a factor in TOs. Julio Jones and Arenas should give the Tide some scoring opps but the way this Florida team is utilizing so many weapons is scary.....and fun to watch if you are a Gator fan. I have to admit this is the Florida offense I envisioned before the season.
Interesting views by Spurrier: http://capitalcitysports.blip.tv/#1479621 At game's end he shook Urban's hand and said "Go win 4 in a row"..... .....once a Gator always a Gator! One thing he says is this year's Florida team is much better than the one two years ago that won the NC...... Damned......where's that lotion!
