Now we need to find the right fit and get back to being relevant again. A lot of Gators like the thought of Lane Kiffen. I like Kiffen myself.
All I can say about our firing is that it should have happened last season. Not that Napier is a bad man but he is not a good Head Coach.
Not sure why UF would want Franklin, unless the goal is to just be competitive and not return to top dog like the Meyer years.
The Georgia Tech guy, excellent coach. The USF guy, SMU guy. Don't forget Urban was the Utah coach in the Mtn West.
I think the USF guy would be a good gamble. I mentioned him earlier for the Penn State position, but he’s in kind of the same position Napier was in when Florida hired him. Anyway, I’m sure the UF folks have thought about it before today and probably already had some conversations. It just seems like all of the proven, successful coaches are tied up. And we forget that Franklin took Penn State to the playoffs last year and lost a close game in the semifinals. I’m not a big fan of his but he’s only 6 games from that very successful season.
Marcus Freeman is a name some Gators are dreaming about. I don’t see that as realistic. Another name is Jedd Fisch of Washington.
Tell me if this article will link here. https://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/florida-head-coach-hot-board-who-will-replace-billy-napier/
Personal favorite is Kiffin, if that’s a no go then test the waters with Freeman. A hard no on Franklin. Here’s another article from CBS Sportsline. Florida coaching search odds: Ten candidates to replace Billy Napier
I thought I posted another reply but it apparently didn’t take. So I will try again. Go all in on Kiffin, if that’s is a no go test the Freeman waters. A hard no go with Franklin. Here’s an article I like Florida should hire Lane Kiffin if it wants to compete with Kirby Smart
I would be very surprised if Heartline would even consider the offer if made, as we prepare for what we hope to be another National Championship.
