If I hadn't sit here, in agony due to my injury, and saw the whole game I wouldn't have believed it. Beat them 24-13 in Homecoming in Gainesville. I'm ecstatic to say the least. Go Gators
Didn't see it of course Bill, but I figured that the Gators would win. A true freshman QB going into the swamp against an excellent Gator defense was not a good formula for Auburn. Congrats on the big win.
MSU went toe to toe with the Buckeyes in the 1st qtr, but the Buckeyes have exploded on them in the 2nd qtr. I expect the Buckeyes will come out in the 2nd half having taken the best shot Sparty has and smoke'm.
Bill I thought about you yesterday. The Swamp was as it was in the greatest days of Spurrier, Meyer and Tebow..... I hope you can get well soon and get back to enjoy these Mullen days. Bring your ear plugs LOL
True Freshman QB Bo Nix looks to be a very good college qb....but a bit early to go into the swamp and get a win.
Bill, Dave and those who choose to lurk silently watching our train wreck, That's a great win for you guys. How do you feel about next week?
Corey I have hopes that our defense can be very active and disruptive and cause some turnovers etc. like they were able to do against Auburn and the Florida offense at the same time has an easier go of it than yesterday...( although the Gators had almost 400 yards of total offense ) If all went extremely well UF could win a 31-28 type game but otherwise it's a tough assignment to win this year in Baton Rouge.
I'll take a different tact. LSU hasn't played a team with a defensive pulse yet. Their own defense is not nearly what it was last year... they lost a LOT. I don't know if the Gators can overcome a road game with a young QB, along with the refs who fear sinking in the swamp after the game, but I expect them to greatly diminish Joe Burrow's Heisman candidacy.
I'd say the Gators haven't faced an offense as potent at the LSU offense has been this year. It will be an interesting game, road game at Baton Rouge and their is still some animosity over the Hurricane thing a few years ago. LSU wants this one bad. How is Trask's knee? They'll need him at 100%
I'm not sure about Trask's knee but I do hope he can be at or near 100%. He has been in the program three years and has handled adversity... like Sat. vs. Auburn's defense and also when he was suddenly thrust in to play against Ky on the road when Franks was hurt. So he has experience enough but he will have to protect the ball better on his dropbacks. I agree LSU hasn't seen a defense like Florida's and they are going to soon get a double dose.... UF this Saturday and Auburn thereafter. The key is can the Gator's offense score 30 points... enough to win the game in my opinion.
Another comment I want to make about Auburn's defense.... Rarely have I seen a team coached to play things to the edge so much as to be clearly against rules and hope they can just get away with it. Think FSU in the mid 90s when their pass rushers were taught to hit the Qb.... " until the echo of the whistle"... or in other words late hit the Qb if you can get away with it. Auburn's Dbs are evidently being taught to hit the WR early... split second early and hope to get away with it. They did it vs. Texas A&M and they did it many times on Saturday.... getting away with it initially but then suddenly the refs seemd to be on to it and started calling it. If I was an opposing coach I would be having a serious discussion with the head ref before playing Auburn about looking out for that illegal tactic. And heads up Kp.... the one way Auburn can gain an upper hand on the Tide this year is by successfully employing that tactic against those all world receivers that Bama has along with Tua pitching it to them. The Tide won't run the ball on Auburn but their passing game will dice em up if given a fair chance to do so.
I didn't see anything suspicious about the LSU defense when they came to Austin, other than in the 2nd half they keep going to the ground with fake injuries that magically just turned out to be fake cramps when they got them to the sidelines.
I was just about to comment on the lack of complaining about officiating in this game but then MCG came through for me. Alabama is very familiar with Auburn. After Florida, they are our biggest rival .
You would have been hearing about it before today Kp if the refs didn't seem to do an about face and start flagging Auburn for the early hits on the receivers. The helmet to helmet hit on our RB early in the game was curiously not called.. and I still can't understand why not on that. And the 15 yard unsportsmanlike on the Auburn fumbled punt was a very damaging penalty moving the ball from the 2 back to the 17 ( we turned it over trying a pass instead of punching it from the 2 ). It was at the other end of the field so maybe someone can explain how and why that was called on the Florida player?
