is a genre of music that I love, because it dates all the way back to the 50s and still continues on to this day. Not a lot of the bands made big money, but they made great music. I am going to flood the **** out of this topic with some of my favorite garage rock bands (which can even include the Rolling Stones if you wanna participate). You can listen or not. I'm just tossing out lighter stuff for fun consumption.. It's interesting how some act from the 90s could take you back to the early 60s or even 50s.. The raw commonality has always attracted me to this genre. First up, The Compulsive Gamblers from Memphis. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vGCK4mtEDDQ" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"></iframe>

 I confess... That I saw both The Seeds and Paul Revere and the Raiders with my own eyes a long time ago. I also played in a garage band myself...
Status Green, Howell, N.J. ( 2002 -2012 ) Bona fide garage band as I listened to them practice for years in my buddy's garage up the street. The drummer is his son. Took the usual route over the years . School dances, VFWs , Battles of the Bands. Earned a following, started getting paying jobs at local bars. Then the bigger clubs. This is filmed at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park ( Think Springsteen, J. Geils Band, Thorogood & the Destroyers, Jackson Browne etc ). Actually toured the country twice and were making some money. Zenith came when they opened for Bon Jovi at the Meadowlands. Never could get the big deal with a major recording company. But they had fun while it lasted. Now family guys with kids. The drummer, my neighbor? Director of a local high school marching band. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VBfdVhKESPI" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"></iframe>
Alright alright... Two groups from my hometown in Mansfield, OH. They still live here and I know guys in both bands. They are still involved in music but don't perform together. They would not claim to be exactly rock icons. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IdWp-QCLfWw" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-4aQiFaCod8" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media"></iframe>
fantastic contributions. I love this genre. It could be 1962, could be 1992, could be today. True Rock and Roll IMHO.

Here is an article about a Viet Nam vet from here in my hometown. His band is mentioned in my post above (The Ohio Express). I know (remotely) a couple of the guys from the Ohio Express. Dale Powers worked for a friend of mine for years. He's a few years older than I...when I was in junior HS his band (then called Sir Timothy and the Royals) played for our Junior HS dances. Interesting story about how when he was finishing up boot camp the Merv Griffin Show came on showing his band playing, which kind of surprised his fellow soldiers when they found out it was his band. https://www.mansfieldnewsjournal.com/story/life/people/veterans/2018/04/08/veterans-story-ohio-express-band-member-served-vietnam/492521002/
