Yankees v. Red Sox. Evil Empire v. Idiots. Baseball season officially starts today!

Tied for first. Exactly as it should be.

Standing O for Johnny in his first at bat.

I drove in this morning so I could get home to see the first pitch. Plus, we have the immigration rally today and I want to make sure I can get the hell out of downtown. Commuter Express posted warnings on the buses last week advising that service interuptions may occur today due to employees walking off the job in support of the rally for people who want to come here looking for work :?

well Krebsie..what can I say... The firm of Youkalis, Stern, Kapler, Epstein and Kapstein have built me a team from hell this year. They have Willy Harris, Willy Mo Pena, Dustan Mohr, Bard, Alex Cora, Alex Gonzalez, Rudy Seanez, Tavarez, on my 25 man roster. These mentioned gentleman are not even double A quality. They have given away Hanley Ramirez ( batting 320) Renteria (16 game hitting streak), Bill Mueller hitting like crazy, Mark Bell Horn, Arroyo Pitching Cinci to a pennant. Its a business and the fans must suffer. 38,000 every game. 90.00 now to park your car. Yes its early, George...but it looks bad for THE NATION :( :( :!: :!:

I'm with BDR. I read Joel's post and I'm scratching my head. Joel actually misses Renteria, Bellhorn and Arroyo? That's not how I recall his feelings last season.

Damon played hard for Red Sox..no doubt about that. If Damon went to any other team except NY he would get a 5 minute standing O. Because he went to the hated Yanks, he is as good as dead. AMEN :!: :!:

You cant imagine. You would have to be in Fenway or Yankee Stadium to understand...or a bar in either city!

Damon was interviewed last night. Said he expected a tough welcome back. "But I went to a team that needed me. And wanted me."

Jeter sure is thriving at the plate now that he doesn't have to lead off.

Yankees still have a geriactric pitching staff. Bosox one two pitching punch will be dominant in postseason play. IF, the O's and Jays let NY and Boston get that far.

ESPN reported that the Yankees also tried to obtain Mirabelli to keep him from returning to the Sox. Gotta love it.

Jeter has been particularly hot the last few weeks.

Sox need at least some production from the bottom of the order.

Mirabelli seemed to be the key for the Sox tonight, kept the ball in front of him. Tim Wakefield could keep throwing the junk.

amazing. Mirabelli arrived at Logan at 6:45. Police escort waiting for him. Raced him through the streets of Boston as he undressed in cruiser and put on uniform ( which State Trooper had with him). Pulled up at Fenway at 7:02..ran through the gate and was able to get to home plate umpire BEFORE he was checking starting lineup. ( otherwise Tek would have been in lineup). Most amazing sequence of events. Then Papi caps off the nite going deep into 40 mph wind...same wind that knocked Jeter and Giambi down earlier in game. As advertised, Damon got hit hard. Money thrown out of center field bleachers. Boos all nite. Cries of JOHNNY JOHNNY JOHNNY constantly. 45 degrees with a wind chill of 20 degrees and the Fenway faithful dressed for football! What a country!
