Fulmer – How about a 7 pm curfew and nightly bed checks?

It could be time for Tennessee to require every football player that is on scholarship to live in one dorm. Lock the doors with armed guards at 7 pm and shoot rubber bullets at any of these idiots that try to get out. I am so tired of hearing about idiocy from these guys that are handed an education. I understand what it is to be young and even somewhat remember what it was like. I needed my arse kicked a few times myself. However, I never needed it kicked for the same thing twice.

Tennessee junior All-SEC punter Britton Colquitt will be suspended for the Vols' first five games this season and will lose his scholarship following an arrest early Sunday morning on charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. This guy got in trouble for alcohol related issues before he ever played a game for the Vols.

Colquitt exposes his sub six bits IQ

That young man needs help, he's an alcholic with all those DUI's. He's going to kill somebody, maybe even himself if there isn't an intervention.

The Colcuitts have been part of the Tennessee football program for a long time. Btittan is the first one to show a weakness like this. I would hope that his family is now heavily in to Brittan’s recovery.

I am glad that there were heavy consequences for him to pay. Having his free ride taken away should be heavy enough. He’s just lucky that there were no life changing consequences for his actions… this time. Hopefully he will realize that next time could turn out much worse.

Somebody told me this weekend that "advanced" paintballers are now freezing their paint pellets to make them sting more when you get hit. I wonder if they feel like rubber bullets when frozen? Seems dumb to me though.

Wow, the hits keep coming. This reminds me of another year when Tennessee had a lot of arrests..... I hope this problem can be rectified soon.

I am very aware of that award. Another Tennessee fan on another board posted that RockyTop should be changed to:

You won't get any argument from me on that one. I am tired of these idiots thinking they are above the law. Steve Spurrier is not exempt either it appears:

Adams didn't go soft on Phil that's for sure. I'd say that was scathing.

While I have defended Fulmer more than once on this board I must say that all of the off the field troubles make it somewhat embarrassing to be a UT fan. I love Tennessee football but when a comparison of any kind by any one is made to Miami, that hurts. It hurts even worse because it is somewhat justified. I think Tom touched on one of Fulmer's weaknesses in reference to his assistant coaches and I think the same thing applies to his players. Tom stated he though Fulmer was too "buddy-buddy" with his assistants and I think he tries to be too much of a friend to the players as well. At some point no matter how good of a person they are I think you have to say just what the author here suggested. The next player that gets into trouble of any kind is off the team. At some point you have to establish consistency dealing with problems and Fulmer can't seem to bring himself to do that. Because of that UT football is getting a serious black eye.

That said, I don't think it's fair for other fans of major college football to throw stones. We all virtually live in glass houses especially, it seems, in the SEC. At some point, there has to be a reconfiguration of the emphasis placed upon winning above all else. That my friends, starts with the fans. Winning will always be the #1 priority as long as the fans buy the tickets, buy the apparel, and watch the games. It will take fans, not the NCAA, or anyone else to right the ship. I am reminded of a sermon I heard preached last Sunday. The message was on the Titanic and how this invincible ship, despite being warned, pressed on and ran headlong into an iceberg. I think the same concern should be had for major college football.

Now to me there is some conflict in these two statements
Uncertain??? Suspended indefinitely???? I mean come on now, announce a suspension on Feb 18 and say that your not sure about his status for Spring Practice in 11 days? Yeah thats some big time discipline, that'll show'em.

    Aquila,

I think you will also agree with this and may be shocked to see it posted by me. I said that PF had a free ride from me until the next loss to Florida, Bama, and/or Georgia. I will ammend that to say that he has a free ride from me for three more years IF he will right the ship by kicking them off right and left until the bad eggs have all fallen off that UT wall.

Three years Fulmer. Get tough, recruit the right character, and kick 'em off when they prove they have no character. You do that, and I'm back in your court. You continue on the same path and I'm ready to pull the trap door lever before the season even starts.

... to clarify, I realize that him going from a player's coach to being tough will cause us to lose more than just the idiots. I realize that we could see a couple of semi disasterous seasons as a result. I alos see that it would be possible to turn it around within three years.

Sell out the next two years  and get rid of the cancer within. Bring in a new crop of kids that want to be at Tennessee... kids that want to polish the Tennessee image... I only want to see these kids names in print when they are running over the top of defenses and putting opposition QBs flat on their backs. :x
