    for college football.

    ESPN has the window dressing. They have better production values.

    But for serious analysis of what is going on during the games and what it takes to win... I'm going to start watching Foxsports more often.

    And ABC/ESPN football coverage for college is a joke. A flat out joke. Herbie is the only guy holding his weight on the network. Fowler is marginal at best. He just can't shake his own personal bias, and he's been trying for a long time.

    NBC=A nonstop commercial for their NFL coverage...which given how much ND sucks this year, really isn't all that bad of a thing.

    CBS=Its like talking football with my former brother-in-law. He knows the game, because he played the game a little..but he refuses to believe the game is played outside the Southeast..and by that I mean, SEC...and past that...ACC...past that. no one.

    For the record, ABC is no better. The 3 jackasses (Saunders, Flutie and James) had a 20 min conversation about 'who is now #1 in the BCS with only 1 mention of LSU.. and that was Saunders correcting James that LSU was actually #2 instead of Oregon..

    Its bad, real bad. Whatever happened to by God sports journalists?

    While I enjoy the game...and never miss a chance to watch it.. The game is cheapened by the coverage. Its awful.

    I usually don't watch the analysis. I can get whatever analysis I need on the Skybox. :wink: Also, it seems like the games have become billboards for other programming. It was really eye opening to watch what TV timeouts did to the flow of the game. When you are in the stadium TV timeouts seem to last forever and the teams just stand around waiting for TV to come back. If the NCAA was really interested in making games shorter, eliminating 1 TV timeout would chop off 3 minutes. I really think they have an effect on the game. TV should show the game not drive the pace of the game. :x

    My gosh. I did not know that MCG is your former brother-in-law. Small world.

    <t>Hmm how can I say this... first, funny stuff <br/>
    <br/>
    second, and I am trying to avoid broad brush strokes here... I will say that it has been my experience... as a 'west coast guy' who lived in the upper mid-west and the deep south... that in the mid-west, their is a disdain but a respect for Southern football...I think the disdain is more about their incorrect perceptions about 'southern life'...and the respect is all for the football. however, there is not much respect for mid-western, northeastern and especially west coast football in the deep south.<br/>
    <br/>
    now again, this is not indicative of the feelings of many of the GREAT southern football fans on this board..Those who step back and take a greater appreciation for the game as a whole.. this has just been MY experience living here.<br/>
    <br/>
    Now, as far as the coverage goes.. Its not even close. Petros Inc are some ugly mugs..but they are providing the best content on air.</t>

    I agree that many of the sports networks seem to be too beholden at times to their own affiliations.

    I do think that ESPN Gameday did a much better job this year with being at games that were simply big games vs. games that were only on ABC.

    Interesting stat the other day on Gameday was that Florida holds the record for appearances on Gameday sites with 26......CBS affiliation and all.

    <t>true...<br/>
    <br/>
    but its one thing to show up, its another to know what you are talking about.<br/>
    <br/>
    Foxsports doesn't have the pretty faces. In fact, they have quite a few PUMA nominees on their staff.<br/>
    <br/>
    But ESPN is all about names and glitz.. the tandem of James and Flutie is mind numbing. I mean, do you really listen to the things these guys say? Saunders? He's a homer who has never hidden his agenda in his snide remarks.<br/>
    <br/>
    I only wish FSN had a larger budget to get in on more weekly coverage. ABC/EsPN owns college football with CBS and NBC only being major players in the game because of who they represent.</t>

    I agree with Corey again. Even the Pac10 telecasts featuring Trojan Homer Petros Papadakis are better/more honest than the crap at ESPN, ABC or CBS...

    Agree..

    <t>With you guys especially on ABC. Is it just my TV but does their HD production come in a distant fourth behind ESPN, CBS and Fox? James and Flutie are so bad it doesn't warrant discussion as does Saunders. I refuse to listen to them as I refuse to listen to one single word from Mark May who is a total ass.<br/>
    <br/>
    Actually one of my favorite guys is Mark Jones who does games with Davie.</t>
