The new college football previews are out and I picked up ESPN. Notre Dame is ranked 15th in their preseason poll, but I have concerns looking at the roster. The Irish offense has ZERO seniors in the starting lineup and only three juniors. That means at least 8/11 will be teenagers. They're very talented, but experience counts in the biggest games. On defense, I'm concerned about size. It's a very fast defense, but only one starter is taller than 6'4" and several players are only listed at 6'0". This makes them smaller than most of the high school lineups around here. Small lines on defense have hurt us against Alabama and Ohio State in recent years and this looks like more of the same... As usual, these previews don't make sense. The Irish are listed as favorites to win every, single game, except the very last one against USC. So how come we're only ranked 15th? The schedule contains 9 bowl teams...
All I know is that SEC Media days are coming up, which signals the kickoff to the run of absurdity that is college football. The countdown is upon us.
My wife is dreading it because it generally means my Saturday afternoons (and nights) are taken up. :?
I used to buy every mag on the stand when they came out. Now with the Internet I never even pick them up.
It's the one thing I have laid down the law on with my wife of 36 years.... and I fought that battle a long time ago.... and won. I defer almost anything else to family events, family time etc. but not college football and to a lesser extent NFL football. I tell my son he better wrap those video games up and take em upstairs during football season. No apple picking for me during football season!!
ND <t>Terry, I don't pick up the mags every year like I use to either. Get most of the info from internet.</t>
