Opening line has UF at minus 1.... Better jump on those Vols now because I suspect the smart money may well move that to UF plus 1 by the end of the week.
Really is kind of a must win for the Gators isn't it? Vols are young but played well vs Georgia and are at home. Danger, Danger Will Muschamp.
A game that will be wanted badly by both teams. Tenn wants to end the streak of losing to UF and show that their upbeat performance in Athens was just a sign of good things to come. UF.... well.... it's been panic time in G-ville since the Bama debacle. Secretly most Gator fans wanted to believe we could get back to 2012 type wins.... and get on a track that would keep Muschamp's job safe and sound. Now it seems like UF is closer to being on the track of a 2014 Michigan rather than on the track of a team like Alabama or of a 2006 thru 2009 Florida. My gut says Muschamp's inability to make important changes on the fly will eat him and the program up in this one. He sticks with Driskel this Sat..... who from what I have seen is about half as good as say.... Worley of Tenn or Jacoby Brissett of NC State. This decision to stick with Driskel will lead to doom this Sat. in my opinion. Tenn 37 UF 24
How good is Georgia? I know Todd Gurley is all world, but they gave up a fair number of points to So.Carolina and Tenn, 2 teams that are likely to be 4 loss teams. Looking at the SEC East you wonder if the winner of the division will have a min of 2 losses.
Georgia has Gurley and without him would probably have those 4 losses you mention. With him they may be able to hold on and out duel Mo. and possibly even SC for the SEC East title and the right to get pummeled by the West Champion in Atlanta. The SEC East champ may even have three conference losses this year.
That was Muschamp this week on Driskel.... Hmmmmm.... the last time Driskel made me proud was when he ran out on the field for the Sugar Bowl vs. Louisville but then of course he promptly threw a telegraphed pick six and that was the end of that..... :?
Life is funny, cruel, etc....I would have figured Driskel to have had a great college career at QB. The kid is big, strong, and while not exactly Tim Tebow or Michael Vick running the ball, he is a strong and tough runner. Just a much worse passer than his HS 5* ranking would have indicated. I guess he's more like some other 5* HS QB's in Garrett Gilbert of Texas/SMU and Dayne Crist of ND/Kansas. All prototypical size and strong runners with big guns. Just never could put it together at the collegiate level. Although to be fair, Gilbert did better when he was at SMU, but he didn't get drafted.
I may regret it but I am throwing caution to the wind on this one... Cindy and I are tied and I am planning on that changing.
Pretty good examples of what Driskel appears to have evolved in to. On the other hand ex-Gator Qb Brissett of NC State looked like the second coming of Cam Newton last Saturday. What gives on that Willie?
Well I can tell I am going to sit down at 11 am and get up at 11 pm. This means I have to get the grass cut early...or maybe it'll rain. 8)
The Vols have a golden opportunity to get a W over the hated Gators. I think odds are they will cause it seems like Muschamp is stubborn as a mule when it comes to running this team his way whether he fails or not. In this case I think it's going to be his way AND the highway unfortunately.
It seems to me that the more a coach is under fire the more he digs in and is determined to stay the course.
I have listed below the progression downward of the UF offense since Muschamp became coach and it illustrates why he and his bullheadedness are headed out of town: University of Florida PPG stats since 2010: 2010 29.8 ranked 44th of 120 ( Urban Meyer - no Tebow ) 2011 25.5 ranked 71st Muschamp 2012 26.5 ranked 78th 2013 18.8 ranked 113th Against Bama the offense was no better than it has been and all of the weaknesses are still glaring. Muschamp's way clearly does not work. It's time to pull the plug on this defense oriented assitant coach.
This game could spell the end of Muschamps career at Florida. I truly thought he would succeed and be a good coach for the Gators. I still hope so but this isn't a good matchup for him.
Don, I won't be surprised if we win or if we lose. But what I really think in the Florida case is that Muschamps job is really on the line this season and a loss Sat. could end his career at Florida. I wouldn't like that as I think he has a lot of potential to be a very good, if not great, coach at Florida for a long time. Reading Tom's comment about our picked this week it appears both of us have thrown caution to the wind and one of us will take a big hit.
