Weird putting that up as a football topic again but here we go....it's game week.

I couldn't comment on this game without a few comments first from the Meyers:

"“It's awful,” she ( Shelley Meyer ) said. “Why did it have to happen? These Gator players, I care about them and I know when I get to Ohio State I'll care about them, too. I'm close to a lot of Gator players and my heart is pulling for the guys, but I can't pick. I just hope both teams pull it together and end the season on a good note.”

Meyer is more concerned with finishing off his staff and a recruiting class than who wins the game Monday. He's not going to take the performances of the Ohio State players as an audition for next year.

“I want to form my opinions after we coach them,” he said. “It's a great opportunity for these players to push restart. I'm not going to develop an opinion based on this game.”

Obviously the Urban Connection is going to be the main topic in the days leading up to the game. It sure beats focusing in on the mediocre seasons both teams had to endure to get to this game.

Hey....I'm a Gator always and I will get jacked for my team to win the bowl game.......but I am prepared also for this disappointing team to disappoint once again.....

My heart says UF 23 OSU 20

My head says OSU 21 UF 10

This is the ultimate doesn't matter to either team bowl game. Now by that I don't mean the guys don't care about winning the game, if they are real players they want to win everytime they step out on the field.

But a loss doesn't mean squat for the futures of either team. ND desperately needs to beat FSU, that is not true for either OSU or UF. Their coaches are in solid with the fans, their recruiting is going well and will continue to do so no matter what the outcome.

I'm disappointed that we chose to reward our senior class with a bowl...at the expence of our junior class...who did nothing wrong.

I agree it would help Kelly during the offseason....help Fisher too if they had the positive of a bowl win to build upon but.....desperate? Really?

I think UF could use a win more than OSU for the same reason as Meyer discusses above. He will begin to judge his players only after he has had a chance to coach them and I agree with that plan.

Muschamp already has a season under his belt and he could definitely use a positive boost to the offseason after the end of year debacle of a loss to FSU.

This is Luke Fickel's team and he has done all of the preparation with staff as their final game together. Meyer has indicated he has stayed out of the preparations, trying to put his new staff together and recruit.

It appears both teams are pretty evenly matched. I assure you Luke and the team want to win this game. Good for extra reps for our young team and can only help us next year.

We have a number of players back from injury and should be pretty much full strength for the game, with a couple of exceptions.

I am more concerned about our defense than our offense.

Stu, I know how you feel but not much we can do about it at this point.

No problem, Stu. We "Dimers" won't stay for long.

The only reason I posted is to clarify to anyone who cared that Terry's "desperately" comment represented only opinion, not fact.

I'll go back to lurking while you guys analyze your game. For what it's worth, I'm pulling for the Big 10 team.

Other than the Meyer connection this is the next best reason the game means anything.

I still think that for some Ohio State fans.....( BT excluded I guess ).....there would some measure of satisfaction if OSU defeats Florida. Small measure it would be I agree because the stakes are so much less......but some small degree of revenge would be attained by some of their fans.

Otherwise it is the SEC dregs vs. the Big Ten dregs but for some reason I hold Ohio State's 6-6 season in higher regard than I do Florida's.

I have watched both and I think Ohio State is the better team because John Brantley and UF's offense are so god blasted awful.

Not really a revenge thing. More a reaction to the "OSU can't beat the SEC thing."

You have covered your bases pretty well...you are set to rub our faces in it if you win and say "I told you so" if you lose. ;)

I'm not sure what's gonna happen. Junior class needs to play motivated. Last bowl they're gonna see.

Must be a Gator thing.....I've been on three different Buckeye boards today and your is the only reference.

The roundball opener and the crazy a$$ starting time tomorrow, Buford needs to be more consistent, Matta needs to play more than 7 kids, why does Gene Smith still have a job and the M AD b!tching about the coaching waiver are the topics of the day.....anything about the bowl game itself is well down the list of meaningful discussion topics for the Buckeye Nation

No degree of a win by this Gator team would elicit that response Stu.....these Gators for the last two years running have been pretty humbling.

Besides......at 6-6 what is the measure of this Big Ten opponent? What is to be gained by beating Ohio State at it's most mediocre?

Now last year when MissSt annihilated Michigan at the same time Bama was blasting MichSt I kinda thought that was impressive for the SEC.

But trust me......this Gator team isn't capable of dominating Ohio State in that fashion and has much more of a chance to similarly get squashed as did those two Big Ten teams a year ago.

    Oh boy....oh boy.....

What we are doing offensively is....well.....very offensive.

Look....I sat in the Swamp in the middle of the 4th quater and my team down 21-0 and had to rub my frigging eyes to comprehend that the scoreboard actually had FSU down for only 65 total yards at that time......down 21-0 and the other team only had 65 yards!!!

I think the Buckeyes will like what we're doing offensively as well

AJ, I picked OSU with 10 points...not gonna get sucked in by "Lou Holtz" Dave here...he is just setting us up. :)

I am doing a second pick set (not on Skybox...was only allowed one) that is random picks (coin flips) and points assigned by the first bowl game getting 1 point and the last (BCS Championship) getting 35.

I figured couldn't do any worse randomly than with my own picks. I am 5-5 in the Random set but points are still low...am somehow 7-3 in my real picks.

Oh, and the random Gator Bowl pick is Fla with 25 points.

Wish that was the case but the biggest mismatch in the game is the Ohio St defense vs. the UF offense. That one is so lopsided that I don't think our own decent defense can overcome it much like a damned good Florida offense couldn't overcome a weak UF defense vs. a good Michigan offense in the 2008 Cap One Bowl.
