This is a huge game for Tennessee on so many levels. Tennessee, at 3-2 in the SEC, and only 12-7 overall needs this win badly. In fact, Pearl reportedly told his team that if they had any chance on postseason and SEC relevance that they had to win tonight. Tennessee also has a huge list of recruits in Knoxville tonight including #1 target Marlon Brown, big time OL Marcus Hall, and 5* LB Tana Patrick. The atmosphere in Thompson Bowling Arena needs to be electric. Early, Tenn. is playing well and is up 21-15.
Vols killing the Gators at halftime. Tennessee can't miss from three point land and the Gators are out of the game so far. 39 - 22 at halftime. Pearle is 5 - 1 against the Gators since he's been at Tennessee. How about someone else hiring him??
Come on Tom send him to the ACC or Big East? Nah, I really appreciate Pearle he's a good coach and if the Gators didn't have Donovan I would be happy for him to be the Gator coach.
Very disappointing tonight. Thankfully we have the back-to-back guys to remember because these guys are a long....long way from an NCAA Championship.
The Gators made a run in true Gator fashion but the halftime lead was too much to overcome. Good game Gators.
The rest of the year is going to be a wild ride in the SEC in hoops. Florida, UK, and South Carolina all tied at the top of the East with Tennessee 1/2 game out. I thought Tennessee had a great plan tonight. They followed up Pearl's plan with intensity and excellent execution. I hope this is the beginning of incredible things for Scotty Hopson. He looked the part of a McDonald's All-American tonight.
The Gators made a run but Tennessee was obviously the better team tonight. Good win for the Vols, congratulations. I hope the Gators can avoid the kind of finish that did us in last year as far as the NCAA goes.
Hope your kidding Terry....This guy is dirty all over! Just read about him and Deon Thomas.... Not Brey's fault, his players stink...Hilesdale and Zeller stink and MacAlarney how about trying to play an ounce of defense. It's frustrating to watch them play. I wish they could get a nice athletic big man.
I read this on Bruce Pearl and Dieon Thomas. So what makes him dirty? It seems like the dirty person in this is Jimmy Collins and the University of Illinois. Dieon Thomas and Bruce Pearl
I agree Terry. Here's another link to Wikipedia article about him with the following quote. Bruce Pearl Maybe the NCAA didn't use the recording, but neither did they or any other legal organization do anything to Pearl. The NCAA did nail Illinois during the investigation for lack of institutional control. Pearl paid a big price for being honest the way I see it and I'm glad to see him back coaching at the level he's at. I just need him to quit dominating the Gators for crying out loud. He had the nerve to beat us 3/4 times during our two championship seasons. Some nerve!
I can see what Vitale is saying. I would imagine that amongst the brotherhood of coaches one of the rules is thou shalt not rat out your fellow coaches. But even coaches who get caught doing illegal stuff can end up with good jobs, just look no further than Kelvin Sampson. There was that guy who was at UCLA got caught doing something, was fired, but ended up at Rhode Island and then Georgia before he got caught doing more illegal stuff and got fired again.
Terry, I think that held Pearl back for awhile, but he has landed on his feet in Tennessee and it seems to be good match. If he keeps pounding my Gators though I may have to quit saying good things about him.
He certainly does have the Vols doing very well, and seems to be a very passionate type of coach. Terry
