Buoyed by the home crowd ( me included ) I think the Gators bounce back this week. Strong D keeps an already weak LSU offense very off balance with a UF defensive TD thrown in for good measure. UF 31 LSU 10
Still like my 31-10 prediction. LSU's Qbs will not have any success throwing on UF's D and if UF could essentially stifle Bama's dynamic duo of RBs then the Tigers aren't going to run with enough success to win.
I can't believe the pass int penalty in the endzone on the Gators 2nd TD, not only was the throw out of bounds but I didn't see any interference. LSU defense really looks mean and fast, but the LSU QB looks like a head case.
What a great game, drama till the last play. I don't know if the Gators got screwed on the fake or not, it was very close. I thought the Gators had it with that drive to go ahead, LSU seemed to have lost it's mo trying a little to hard to run out the clock by running the ball...but the Hat survived again. Gator offense still looks out of synch. Was that booing of the Gators by their fans? The broadcast guys seemed to indicate, how do fans boo a team that has been as successful as the Gators under Meyer...don't quite get that. Gator defense does look great even though they weren't getting a lot of help from the offense. Gators look to me to be a year a way from being back on top.
Hey, Tennessee is just one year away from being on the bottom of the SEC East and we look to be ahead of schedule! :? I too thought that the Gators had it when they went on top. That D usually doesn't give up the lead late in the game.
re: the Mad Hatter Every time I see LSU, they look like a team with very superior athletes and decidedly clueless coaches. This game was just one more example of that. I always have the feeling that Les Miles wouldn't even know who won the game unless an assistant told him...
A few observations. The fake FG flip clearly was a lateral but dangerously close to being a forward pass. The replay showed that the ball landed on the field exactly even from where it was pitched. I couldn't understand why it took so long for the replay booth to make the decision. I couldn't believe that pass intereference was not called on the next to last play of the game. It was as obvious as the sun rising in the east. Fortunately for LSU it became a non-issue on the next play. Florida has a huge problem with its running game, but those receivers....Wow! Also, Brantley is a big time player. I keep reading all this bashing of Miles. I can't speak for his past history because I haven't seen LSU play much lately, but I thought he did a pretty incredible job of coaching last night. He played the risky role of gunslinger and won. He didn't blink with 35 seconds left. I can't read his mind, but I'm guessing that he did not want to go to overtime against Florida's big play passing offense because he knew that FL's WRs could wear potato sacks and beat his DBs. On the other hand, he showed incredible confidence in his players to take the chances he did. That has to bode well for team chemistry in future games. If it was my team, after I pulled my heart back out of my stomach, I'd be ecstatic that he had the balls to do what it took to win the game in regulation.
Watch the last 3 minutes of the last weeks game against Tennessee. That same scenario has played out several times in the last 2 or 3 years. He is lucky but he (his coaching staff??) severely mismanage the clock and either lose or almost lose several games a year just by letting time float away.
I don't think LSU has the talent level that JO'Co thinks. They are athletic but I don't think they are superb football players. I'll go with Sid on this one. I thought Miles did fine.
I'll say it again, you just haven't watched him enough. That's okay, I hope he stays at LSU forever.
I'm with you on this one, KP. Where there is smoke, there's fire.....I was actually hoping he'd go back to his alma mater for a long stay if RR ever wears out his welcome...... 8)
I've seen his teams play many, many times on tv over the years and I'm convinced that the guy is dumb as a box of rocks...
Les had dumb luck on the FG fake......luck with the perfect bounce of the oblong ball.....( wasn't meant to hit the ground....and luck it was so close to being a forward pass it couldn't have been overturned.....no matter which way it was ruled on the field....backwards or forward. Otherwise the Gator D should have stopped them but couldn't and UF deserved to lose the game. Oh well.......on to the Peach Bowl.
Just wanted to check in. We got back from the game to our daughters house at about 2 am and left Sunday morning to get back here last night so I have not been hiding. I have to leave for school about 8:30. Tough loss for our guys but we were outplayed. I don't quite understand our team this season, but the SEC is very competitive and it appears no one is going to dominate right now. We cannot seem to get it going offensively and our defense looks good at times but gives up to many big plays. Don't know what else to say, the best team in the stadium on Sat. won. Gator Bill
