My quick take on this is that it is one revenge game where the team seeking revenge gets it.....big time. Auburn is down and cruisin for a bruisin. The game is at night....the Swamp will be juiced..and it won't be pretty. UF gets Caldwell and Cooper back and lights up the scoreboard: Florida 55 - Auburn 17
WOW MCG, you're much more confident than I. My hope is the defensive staff finds a way to improve the pass defense - front pressure and better play from the FS position - without adversly impating their performance against the run. Holding Foster, Coker, and Green-Ellis below their average production was quite an accomplishment and before the season, I don't believe many Gator fans thought this relatively inexperienced defense would have been this productive against the run. They need to do it again, against Tate and Fannin. I think AU's going to be a challenge on Saturday. I only hope TT - Tom Tubberville - will try one of his crazy special teams plays/gambles and it back fires on him ...... big time. OT - Did you see the story about the young man who drowned in the Suwannee River after having been thrown from a boat trying to avoid a flying sturgeon? There have been a number of injuries this year, some pretty serious, from boaters being hit by the sturgeons jumping from the river. But this is the first death - most likely a drowning as the young man wasn't wearing a PFD (life jacket) and wasn't a very good swimmer - which can be tied to a man-sturgeon encounter.
Gaterz...check your PM re: Sat. On the game...getting both Caldwell and Cooper back is huge for Tebow. The Florida offense will be electric on Saturday night.....
Just saw it. As soon as I'm told what we're doing - from one of my many bosses - I'll give you the 411.
Flying Sturgeon...I thought you were joking, but after googling it you're right..how strange. I'm definitely staying off the Suwannee River!
interesting <t>there are a lot of calls for Tubby's job already. <br/> <br/> They are already throwing Borges under the bus and the calls for his head are the loudest.. That's become the norm under TT. First the coordinators go, then his neck is on the line.<br/> <br/> He's been able to deflect blame, but folks are starting to wonder. He needs a big win to turn the Tide (ahahahaha) of the season and the faithful won't wait for the Alabama game to make up their mind. At this point, only his win streak vs the Tide is his saving grace. He's going to need to beat either Florida or LSU, as well as Alabama...otherwise his arse is going to get real hot.</t>
Tailback has always loved TT and not had much love for Marc Richt, maybe he'll leave Auburn and go to Georgia.
AU's schedule to finish out: @ UF Vandy @ Ark @ LSU OMiss TennTech @ UGa Bama Is 6-6 a real possibility?
MCG, I don't think Caldwell is back for Auburn. Gaterz, I am with you, this game has way to much history for me to feel we have it locked up. I look for Auburn to give us a good game.
Gaeterz....200lbs of fish jumping on you has got to hurt. They had a film interview of a couple of hot young chicks, on WTVJ website, who were on the river and got hit by a big sturgeon, cut on very nice looking leg!!
WRT sturgeon - man encounters, there's been a lot of publicity this year. I don't know if there have been more than in recent years but the news coverage of such is more frequent and much broader. Maybe the new AAFL team could adopt the name - "Flying Sturgeons" or "Suwannee Sturgeons"? I don't know, with Shane Matthews as their head coach, maybe they'll run the Air Sturgeon offense? BTW, I;ve heard Chris Leak may have an interest in paying for the Gainesvill team if nothing better comes along. On the Auburn game, I've heard/read conflicting reports as to the availability of Bubba Caldwell for the game. Today's Gville Sun reports he's out but true freshman WR Deonte Thompson is close to being ready to go.
"Flying Sturgeons".....I like that. Also...."Swamp Rats"? Or....how about the names of my two Fantasy Football teams: "Swamp Beasts" and "Swamp Monsters"

 They say that "pride goeth before a fall" and this game was evidence of that. The Gators, with their inflated self-opinion, looked like those old Miami teams. They were getting their arses handed to them physically for three quarters, but they kept preening for the cameras anyway. They would get hammered down, stood up and then bitch-slapped silly, only to strut proudly and appeal to the crowd through teary-eyed snot-bubbles...as if they had done some great deed. They deserved to lose and they did... So who wins the SEC now? Mississippi State?
The SEC race sure is getting crowded. I almost think Tennessee still has a chance. However, Open's players ran all over that D today as the Big Orange defense couldn't even tackle air. Maybe those extra tackling drills will pay off before the UGA game. As for Florida-Auburn, what an incredible game! Auburn came to play and almost got this game stolen from them by the refs but still held it together and took home the W. This might be a job-saver for the River Boat Gambler or whatever it was they called him when he coached at Ole Miss. Great call to go for it on 4th down in the first half. He would have been facing alot of criticism if he hadn't gotten that one right. An incredible Saturday of college football. The Big 12 and SEC races are a cluttered mess and if Florida beats LSU next Saturday and Kentucky loses to SC on Thursday everyone will virtually be starting over. It's going to be a wild season.
While Gator fans are no doubt disappointed, it was just one of those games where the other team was really ready to play and exposed the weakness that even Gator fans admitted would be tough to overcome before the season...the young defensive backfield. LSU looks like another loss as they have a better QB and Wr's than Auburn and I think Tim Tebow FB will have a tough time against that LSU DL. But there is still a lot to like about the way the Gators play football.
Meyer has shown that on occasion he can get outcoached. This was one of those times and I agree the Auburn players were bringing it. WRT to the refs.....SEC football at home on a Sat. night I guess. That one call was truly a bad one....punt interefernce I believe. UF could easily go 8-4 at this point. I seriously injured my knee/quadriceps on Fri am (missed last step at the bottom of the basement stairs) and could not make the game.....had to stay in Michigan. I told my son though I would rather be in Florida watching the loss than going thru what I might have to go thru. Football right now is the least of my worries.
That's been a very common injury here in Michigan the past week. Seems many got hurt jumping off the Lion's bandwagon.
