I'm not quite sure this is what the administration intended.....always beware of the unintended consequences of regulatory reform.....

Well if you lose your employer bought health insurance you can at least find solace in the fact that if you had it they couldn't exclude pre-existing conditions and your kids can stay on your policy until the grow up or turn 49 whichever comes first.

....hmmmmm....in my previous job I paid over $800.00 monthly for health insurance with significant deductible levels and if I wanted it in my current job it would be over $1100.00 per month with high deductibles.

    Employer bought???

Well that completely covers the scope of employer bought health care.

Of course I'm sure Dave knew UAW workers who had full health care with no deductables. And then there are the public employees who have free health care for life. We all saw the near riots in Wisc. when they might be asked to chip in a little for their benefits.

Hey...hey...hey! I'm a public employee and I don't have free health care! I have to pay almost $200 per month! Maybe I'll go on strike for the difference.

Before I went on Medicare I was in the State Ins pool for 800$ with 10K deductable. Heck even on medicare with the Supplements I pay 400$/month.

Free or low cost Health Ins...haven't seen that in a long time.

Well....since I have never been either I have been like most Americans.....paying out the ass for healthcare.

But somehow we are in the forgotten group while everyone pisses and moans about the two groups you mention.

    Such is American politics today.

    Haves vs. the have nots.

    Elite vs. average Americans.

Hell the elite have no knowledge it seems of the average American family's skyrocketing household expenses or the impact it has on our declining wages.

Shame on them for being ambitious, resourceful, industrious, smart, highly educated, diligent, hard working, wise, opportunistic and successful!

    Shame......

Wow.....I guess I give the average American credit for being all of those things and obviously you do not have the same faith in average Americans that I do.

George.....at one time my income did not fall into that range but due to matters that I had absolutely no control over it does now.

That it happened makes me no lazier, dumber or less successful than I was when my income was much greater.

Here is the point.......my plight is not exceptional.....it is commonplace with what has happened to millions of Americans during this recession.

The average American is NOT well educated....less than 25% have achieved a Bachelors degree or more.....the relationship between education and income and unemployment are clear and compelling.......if you want to have and job and make good money, go to school and learn a skill for which somebody is willing to pay for......

That is true that education does increase income over one's life.

But these are very tough times and many college degreed Americans have lost jobs and/or are underemployed.

That said my own three sons will have college degrees as do I.

My grind is that $75,000.00 ain't near what it used to be and it's getting worse all the time.

What we have in this country is that everyone wants blood from a turnip and that includes gas and oil companies, healthcare providers, The federal government, the taxpayers......etc etc....

There is not enough to go around amongst the 90% less well off Americans and the Feds and it's going to get worse from all appearances while the separation of the wealth gap gets wider and wider..

They are still twice as likely to have a job and make twice as much as those without....the point remains, get educated, learn to do something that somebody is willing to pay you to do......if nobody is willing, you either need to learn more or do something else - that would be the diligent, industrious and resourceful part.....

Or you can bitch and moan and wait for Uncle to take it from somebody else that has already evidenced their willingness to do what it takes to succeed so that you can receive it without the same effort.....that ought to make for a wonderfully efficient and innovative society. Good luck with it.....many have tried, all have failed.

History is very clear in the lessons that our capitalistic model represents the very greatest opportunity for the "average" man to improve his standard of living......

You know nothing about me......fyi, the last organization I worked for where the paycheck was signed by anybody but myself was 12 years ago....Memorial Day weekend 1999, at the height of the Clinton bubble that led to the subsequent Clinton recession that W inherited, but that's another story......

Hardtimes? Hardtimes are trying to make a payroll all by yourself, with your own capital at risk and not asking anybody for anything other than the opportunity to add value to their enterprise - whatever it may be and not getting nor asking for a nickel if you do not........and there is nowhere else I'd rather be because the opportunity is mine to seek in any manner and any place that I see fit and if I fail, I have nobody to blame but myself, and then I will move on and try something different.....take your whiny ass somewhere else, I'm not in the mood. God Bless America.....
