Lotsa stuff haapened while I was at lunch.. (1) Bobby Valentine out as BoSox Skipper (2) Miami AD resigns (3) NU hires new AD
Here's the article link for the new AD... http://www.omaha.com/article/20121004/BIGRED/710059997 Additionally, it sounds like the NCAA is preparing to swing the Grim Reapers Scythe in the direction of the "U"
Besides that he is from Wisconsin, so going to Lincoln is getting back to his roots (sort of). But you have to wonder if he decided also that he wasn't going to stay around and take the fall for whatever the NCAA decides to do to Miami for things that happened on somebody elses watch. He might even feel like he was mislead when he took the job, I remember reading that Al Golden felt like he was mislead when he took the job and there was speculation that he might quit. Anyway, it's a good job for him and he probably still has all his winter gear!
http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/10/04/3034203/miami-hurricanes-ad-shawn-eichorst.html My first thought was like Terry in that the upcoming sanctions have run the AD away but I keep hearing other reasons. Rumors for months have been that UM president Donna Shalala is the main reason our AD is leaving. She has pissed off the financially gifted alums who have pushed for more emphasis on lifting the football program out of the dumpster it has lived in the last decade. Meanwhile Shalala has appointed herself into making UM the Stanford of the far south. Her zeal in this endeavor has now run off our 2nd athletic director in 5 years...This may please the 99% of college football fans who wish Miami would do black plague experiments and slowly die off in agony and pain but her effort has been a detriment to anything resembling a successful team.
Ralph, I'll be honest with ya, and please keep in mind this is just BUSINESS and NOT PERSONAL....but I like the Black Plague idea...
