OK, I thought I'd give it a try. I like it better than IE for several reasons and will probably begin to use as my default. However, I've encountered a glich:

I successfully imported my IE Favorites to Bookmarks and used it for awhile with no problems. Suddenly (and I don't know what I did), when I select a site on the list, it opens only in the side panel. I can't figure out how to reset it to the previous configuration, ie, opening a new full-screen window . My best guess is that it has something to do with setting Tabs (which I really don't understand right now.)

Anybody got any suggestions or directions??

    Thanks

When you say it only opens in a side panel I'm not sure what you mean.

When you load FireFox you should only see what ever you have set for your home page.

Then when you select the next place to go what exactly do you do? Step by Step.

    1.Click On BookMarks on menu
    2.Select Imported IE Favorites
    3.Click on desired bookmark

    Is that it?

If so do you then see a tab with your home page, and a 2nd tab with the new book mark? That's tabbed browsing, but it's not the default.

Check your settings on Tools/Options/Advanced from the menu bar.

    Terry,

If you go to Views it will give you a drop-down menu that contains Sidebar which contains two choices: Bookmarks and History. By selecting Bookmarks you get a display that mimics the IE Favorites sidebar. Initially, it was working just like IE. That is, you clicked on your selection and the site popped up in a full screen display of the site. Then, it displayed the site only in the sidebar.

In fact, the whole damn thing became corrupted and essentially was not functioning. I uninstalled the program and re-installed from a previously saved FF1.5 set-up program. But the same problem continued...and then everything really went to hell in a handbasket .

I went to the Mozillazine forums andwas amazed at the number of messages describing crashes, bugs, glitches and Fubars.

I am going to file this under one of the truisms that I personally know to govern life: THINGS HATE PEOPLE!!

    Thanks for the help

FWIW: I am using 1.0.7 version of FireFox. It's been very very stable for me.

Checking those forums, I do see that as expected with a new release there are some problems. I see they have already got a verison 1.5.01 or something like that.

I think I might wait a month or so before I upgrade to 1.5! :)

It is FF1.5 that I downloaded.

What I don't understand is that I uninstalled FF; deleted my saved setup.exe for FF; cleaned up my registry; and, then downloaded a fresh installation program. When I attempted to use FF, there were the same problems!! WTF?

I use Firefox and have never encountered a problem like that.

A few other small problems but not that one.

And I sure understand about things hate people.

    whatever

Because two uninstalls followed by fresh, clean downloads have resulted in the same problems resurfacing, I believe that my registry is somehow corrupted and is "messing" with the FF. <br/>
