Hope this isn't a duplicate, don't think so. Kind of a funny read. Firing him of course would not be smart. Congratulations to Alabama's Crimson Tide, Now It's Time to Fire Nick Saban
Funny. Of course reading Forbes articles on sports is like reading Gourmet article on AStronomy.
kp, I think I want to start a fire Saban club and I'll be the President. :} I think Les Miles also. I see the Gators did beat Alabama out for out new OC. Small wins is about all the Gators have gotten the last two years. However we are building a good defense which as the Tide showed Monday night can carry a team a long way. By the way congratulations on a dominating win.
That was a pretty funny article. Hey it's tough to win a NC, much less multiple NC's, the guy makes a good case for that and why maybe it's so tough.
Thanks Bill, let me know how the club thing works out. You probably won't have any problems recruiting members, and you're right Terry, you have to have a very good team and be lucky.
On a sleepless night of reflection kp I have decided that the best way for the Gators to get back in the mix is to recruit well and have the right coaches. Having Bama and LSU to use as examples of where we want to go is a good thing. So the club is as an SEC fan. The article did make good points as to why it is so difficult to stay on top. When the Gators won in 96 it was the first National Championship we had won, but it was the 5th straight SEC Championship we had won. Spurrier seemed to have us on top of the world, especially the SEC world. However over the next five years he was there we only won one more under Spurrier and Meyer won two. The rest of the SEC caught up with the Gators and I believe we can pull ourselves up to the LSU and Alabama juggernauts.
There are going to be highs and lows just because of graduations and early draftees. It seems like recruiting and the coaches ability to adapt to the talent he has are two keys.
