AP Poll, about the way I figured. I'm surprised that LSU is as high and that Georgia isn't higher. But that is pretty small. Oh I am also surprised that Florida is tied with Georgia. I think that this season Georgia was better than Florida.

    Yeah

    1. Clemson
    2. Alabama
    3. Ohio State
    4. Oklahoma
    5. Notre Dame

I imagine the top 3 will be unchanged in the first poll for 2019.

I don't understand the infatuation with Georgia. Must be an SEC thing. Georgia is a three loss team who tanked at the end of the season. I'm surprised that they are ranked equally with Florida, who improved as the season went on and IMO ended up a better team than Georgia. I also don't understand Ohio State at #3, but what do I know? Obviously, not much. I thought Oklahoma deserved #3 based on its game with Alabama. No argument with Alabama at #2 or ND at #5. Happy to finish in the top 5.

I think anyone in the top 10 or 15 is set up well for next year. Wins will move you up because there will be losses ahead of you. There will be some changes to this poll in the next preseason based on personnel losses and recruiting classes.

    Final Sagarin Computer Rankings;

    1. Clemson
    2. Bama
    3. Ohio State
    4. Georgia
    5. Oklahoma
    6. Michigan
    7. Notre Dame
    8. Mississippi State

    10. Iowa

I don't get Michigan and Iowa being where they are...but hey...it's just a computer formula with inherent flaws.

Those Sagarin rankings look pretty useless.... see Georgia and Michigan but where are Texas and Florida?
In the AP rankings UF is where I thought they would be at #7 so no real complaints there except I do not agree at all with LSU being ahead of Florida at #6. But then again why is Georgia tied with Florida??
All in all though number 7 is a fair spot for the Gators and that's about where I think they will be preseason next preseason.

Me either Stu. Michigan gave up 103 points in their last two games.

I don't know if I would call it tanked. They lost to Alabama by 7 and Texas by 7. They beat us soundly.

    I have them as #6.

I don't have much to complain about with those AP final rankings. Irish in the top 5 is a good thing.

Those Sagrin ratings though are nuts.

Can anyone explain how a 3 loss Michigan team that lost to ND is ranked ahead of the Irish who lost 1 game and that was to Clemson?

It would be interesting to talk to the software guys and get an explanation. I understand it's all about the data and the Ratings. I'm not sure what data in collected and the algorithms that are used to come up with the Rating.

I often wonder why fans put so much emphasis on polls, man or computer made? Winners and losers are established on the field, not in the minds eyes or computer calculations.:(

Don, I think it is the nature of competition to see how the totality of our efforts measure up against the field of competitors. "We're number one!" , is more fun to say than"Well we won this one! ".:)

Well looks like Jalen Hurts has put his name in the Transfer Portal. Doesn't mean he's gone but it does allow other schools to contact him.

I'm betting that he's gone. It'll be real interesting to see where he winds up.

Yeah he probably is. He has apparently applied for a Masters Program at Alabama but that is obviously not binding. Oklahoma is a candidate for his services.
