the Lady Vols pull out a win over Texas A&M but barely. Candace Parker dislocated her left shoulder twice in the first half. No sissy drugs for her. Just put it back in place, brace it up and "put me back in Coach". The rest of the team picked up on the defense, but their offense was not wonderful without Candace. I hope she's back to form before UT reaches Tampa to play LSU.
I'm at work so I didn't get to see it. Sounds like it was a great game that ended up the wrong way for my girls. Congrats to the Lady Vols.
It was certainly a gutty performance by Candace Parker. Aggies just went stone cold in the last 5 minutes of the game, partly Tenn defense and partly just bad offense by the Aggies. I hope Candace is fully recovered for the final 4. As an aside, I really have a hard time watching womens basketball, as good as teams like UConn, Tenn, Rutgers, etc are, the level of play is so different from the mens game.
Scott, I am at work as well. Cindy was sending e-mails to my Crackberry with scores. I could get them through the Blackberry but it is much easier to just have her send e-mails. Tivo will be eaiting when I get home. CP now stands for Can Play for me instead of Candace Parker. That girl is a fighter!
I did catch much of the game and it was an incredible performance by Parker. I think I enjoy watching her more than I did Holdsclaw. That was a great win but I think the run is close to being over if Parker is not 100% for LSU. Terry, I totally agree with you about the women's game being more difficult to watch. It's almost like watching a different game altogether. I catch a few Lady Vols' games a year. No matter how much you like/dislike women's basketball, you have to be impressed with the gamesman er... gameswomanship of Parker.
I really like watching the top lady's teams play, and Parker's performance last night was really impressive. What made it even better was there were no theatrics. She didn't make a big deal about leaving or re-entering the game. She quickly and quietly left the court to get fixed up and quietly re-entered the game. She played the 2nd half with the brace like nothing had happened. One gutsy performance for sure.
I wouldn't tell her she couldn't! She comes from an over achieving family of siblings. One of her brothers is playing in the NBA and another is a brain surgeon. I don’t think that family knows any limitations.
Although Brittany is an eye full, my favorite Lady Vol of all time is: Anyone know who this is and what her nickname is/was? Hint: After a stint in the WNBA, she has become a big chicken.
Terry, that was Michelle Marciniak and she was known to Tennessee fans as Spinderella. She is now an assistant coach for South Carolina Lady Gamecocks.
