The UF-Miami game already will be front and center as the only game to open the season and now Orlando's Disney World will host college football's studio show ESPN Gameday and also SEC Nation. Interesting side note: "Florida will be making its 39th appearance on the sport’s marquee show, the third highest total in the country behind only Ohio State (44) and Alabama (46). The Gators’ 24-14 (.632) record ranks seventh-best in the nation for schools who have played in 10 or more GameDay contests."
Gators 3rd in all-time gameday appearances. I wouldn't have guessed that. Disney has already stated that fans cannot get in to the Magic Kingdom where the set will be without Disney Park passes.... no freebie fan admissions and also no signs allowed... park rules. That's kinda lame.....
No signs allowed??? That will test the will of the Washington State crew. They have had a presence at every gameday since Oct 18, 2003 game between Texas and Kansas in Austin, they have crossed the 200 straight games a couple of years ago. I can't believe the streak will end with this game, it can't. I have faith in those dudes. 9 cool things about Wazzu’s incredible ‘GameDay’ flag tradition
Interesting tidbits I found looking up Gameday history. The 1st 2 gameday's were at Notre Dame, 1993 of course vs FSU but also the next one was at Notre Dame in 1994 #3 ND vs #6 Michigan. UM won 26-24. Ohio State was on 3 consecutive weeks in 1996, at Notre Dame and Iowa and home to home to Penn State, they won all three games.
Yep.... no signs allowed: College GameDay will take place at Disney's Magic Kingdom for Miami vs. Florida
Pretty lame rules but I wouldn't be there either way. Isn't it strange to be at Disney when the game is several miles away?
Yes and consider the promo opp that hosting Gameday provides for Disney. Three hours of Mickey while millions of college football fans are watching.
I have a fantastic marketing idea! Let's build a show celebrating the emotion, passion, dedication, tradition, pomp and ceremony that is college football. This would be a traveling circus displaying all that is best about how each unique fan base displays their school/team spirit. Then, we take that circus, place it within a secure, policed compound, charge $100+/person entry, and disallow all evidence of school/team representation by the fans. Guaranteed win! Dave - you had a severe spelling error. I fixed it for you.
I'm betting that those WSU fans that photo bomb every Gameday will figure out how to get in Disney with a sign/flag folded up in their pants. WSU it's the first official ESPN Gameday of the year.... I along with many other fans of college football watch that first one every year no matter if Wesleyan is playing Wofford. That it is a competitive 7 point spread game between two old rivals and one ranked in the top ten makes it that much better.
I gotta agree that having it so far from the venue is a terrible idea. It guarantee's that fans who want to attend the game will not be at Gameday.
Bill, I believe so. I think there is also something similar in the works with the B1G Network similar to the SEC Network game day program.
Not surprised.... I'm sure they were catching a lot of grief over it..... it's really not Game Day without all of the crazy fans and their signs.
