The hits just keep on coming for CW at ND. You almost get the idea it will be hard for Chollie and his team to live up to the expectations. http://www.athlonsports.com/college-football/8703/ranking-the-new-coaches-from-2005
MCG knows that, Jack. It's his passive/aggressive way of pushing our buttons. I figured it out last year when I said the same thing to him.
Guilty as charged on the button pushing Sid but not on this one. Hey, I could never spell Weruf...Weuff...Weurffel either.
What I will always remember is that the former president of ND called the day Willingham was let go the "saddest" of his life. I guess if you're really into affirmative action or losing football that's understandable.
Fair enough, MCG. We may disagree on some things, but your word is good enough for me. Hek, if I didn't pay attenshun I mite misspell Urbin Myer's name.
Probably a pretty good analysis of the new coaches. I would disagree though that Florida's record was very Zook like. And they mentioned the decline in the Gator offense but not the improvement in our defense. But all in all I think it's a fair analysis. And isn't it amazing what one coach can do? That's about the same thing that happened at Florida when Spurrier arrived, instant improvement and swagger as they call it. Notre Dame got a winner, and I'm betting in the long run so did the Gators. Gator Bill
The swagger and media attention is there but as I referenced before the huge wins aren't there yet and they don't come by just thinking they will be there. ND caught a break last year when a seemingly very tough schedule became much more playable in reality. I'm not saying this guy isn't the second coming of Spur....no...make that Parsegian...but last year anyway didn't prove that ND is in the top 5 of this year's teams. They may be but it still has to be proven out on the field.
After looking at ND's 2006 schedule I'll say 11-2 with a BCS bowl win would propel the Irish to a top 3 or 4 spot at the finish. Any other slip and 10-3 with a top 8 finish isn't that bad either. This is about where I expect UF to fall at the end with a very similar record if all goes well. http://www.collegefootballnews.com/2006/TQ/Tuesday_Question.htm
