Report: Lib Hollywood Director Steven Spielberg Behind Obama Campaign’s Failed Bain Capital Attack…
    [IMG]
I suppose we should be thanking him for leading Team Obama down the Bain wormhole.

    Via Bloomberg:

[A]t DreamWorks Studios, Steven Spielberg spent three hours explaining how to capture an audience’s attention and offered a number of ideas that will be rolled out before Election Day. An early example of Spielberg’s influence is RomneyEconomics.com, a website designed by the Obama team to tell the story — a horror story, by their reckoning — of Mitt Romney’s career at Bain Capital. Afterward, Spielberg insisted that Messina sit down with the DreamWorks marketing team. Hollywood movie studios are expert, as presidential campaigns also must be, at spending huge sums over a few weeks to reach and motivate millions of Americans.

Despite Spielberg’s input on the Bain ad, elite opinion was that it mostly flopped, after campaign surrogates, including Bill Clinton and Cory Booker, veered off message and commended Romney’s business record, to the delight of Republicans and cable news producers.

Messina is adamant that the Bain attack succeeded among the uncommitted voters he’s concerned with, who ignore pundits and are only now beginning to form opinions of Romney. “When people say, ‘How’s the Bain thing playing?’ it doesn’t matter what the set of Morning Joe has to say about it,” Plouffe says. “But if you’re a 45-year-old swing voter in Toledo, Ohio, what are you seeing? What’s in your local newspaper? What ads are running? And what’s going on in the local field operation? That’s what really matters.” It’s true these voters will probably decide the election. All the technology, money, and management theory really amount to an elaborate, determined effort to discredit Romney and win their support. By virtue of his background, Messina may be especially well suited to that job.

Chicago hedge fund manager switches from 2008 Obama fan to Romney backer

    Home - by Cardigan - June 16, 2012 - 18:00 America/New_York - 7 Comments

    ChicagoSunTimes

Four years ago, hedge fund manager Ken Griffin was impressed enough with Barack Obama that he invited him to speak to his employees and helped raise $50,000 to $100,000 for his presidential run. Griffin also hedged his bets by raising a similar amount for Republican John McCain.

But this year, Griffin — ranked by Forbes as Chicago’s fifth-richest man — and his wife Anne, a French-born hedge fund manager herself, are all in with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, telling friends and interviewers they think Romney will better manage the economy.

They co-sponsored a $3.3 million fund-raiser on Obama’s home turf at the Pump Room Thursday night and have emerged as among the nation’s most generous donors to pro-Romney or anti-Obama SuperPACs.

“There are a number of Barack Obama fund-raiser types from four years ago that have come over now to help with Mitt Romney,” Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford said outside the Pump Room fund-raiser for Romney Thursday. “We’ve had time to see what an Obama White House would be, and it’s not quite what some people thought it would be. People see Romney and say, ‘Here’s a businessman who’s got experience’ … I think we’re finding a number of people willing to pony up.”

Obama Spends Father’s Day On The Golf Course, 100th Round Since Taking Office…

Because why should a horrific economy and a bloody war stop him from hitting the links?

Sid, it's Elizabeth Warren who is running against Scott Brown for the "Kennedy" seat in the U.S. Senate. Scott Brown of course won the special election after Ted died, and is up for re-election.

She is a Law Professor at Harvard and the controversy alluded to in that picture is her holding herself out as a Native American. She listed herself in that directory at Harvard and a few years ago, Harvard touted her as an example of the diversity on their teaching staff when criticized for lack of diversity.

She is of questionable Native Ameran Heritage, she is claiming to be 1/32 Cherokee...ok maybe, but nobody has been able to provide ironclad proof. In the opinion of her detractors she has mfg that claim and used it to further her career. While never really doing anything for or with Native Americans.

Of course! I've read about her and her story. I just didn't make the connection. That's funny!

Elizabeth Warren Lashes Out At “Right-Wing Extremists” Behind Ongoing Cherokee Controversy…
    [IMG]
    Settle down, Fauxcahontas.

(Boston Herald) — On their first day in the Hub, a group of Cherokees hoping to confront Elizabeth Warren over her Native American heritage claims blasted the Democrat for trying to dismiss the ancestry controversy as a non-issue in the Bay State U.S. Senate race.

“Poverty, teen suicide, our health care system,” said Cherokee genealogist Twila Barnes in an interview today with the Herald. “Those are issues and those are the people she stepped on and used to benefit and now she says it’s not an issue. Well, of course, to her it’s not an issue because she doesn’t want to address that she did this.”

Ali Sacks, a Cherokee from Warren’s home state of Oklahoma, had harsher words: “It’s cowardly to ride the coattails of people who have lost so much for your own benefit and not accomplish what you can accomplish on your own benefits. I think it’s shameful and extremely disrespectful not just to Cherokees but to all tribes who have given so much to this country historically and lost so much.”

Four Cherokee women are in Boston for four days hoping to arrange a meeting with Warren. A spokeswoman for the Warren campaign told the Herald Sunday a staff member would greet the group, but the women told the Herald this morning they’ve still heard nothing from the campaign. [...]

Warren’s camp responded late today with this statement: “The people of Massachusetts are concerned about their jobs, the future for their kids, and the security of their retirement. Scott Brown would rather talk about anything else. The out-of-state group in question is being promoted and supported by a right wing extremist who is on the record supporting and contributing money to Scott Brown. It is past time we moved on to the important issues facing middle class families in Massachusetts – even if Scott Brown won’t.”

Fundraiser-In-Chief Manages To Spend More Money On His Campaign Than He Raised In May…

Remember when the Obama people were bragging about running the first billion dollar campaign? They're running in the red now, despite non-stop, coast-to-coast fund raising. Entire blocks of voters who gave money to him last time have either dropped out or switched their donations to Romney...
    Via Politico:

President Barack Obama’s campaign and the Obama Victory Fund spent $15 million more than they raised in May, campaign finance reports show.

The campaign and the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee with the Democratic National Committee, raised more than $54 million last month, but they spent $69 million.

The committees spent $34 million on advertising and the rest on various expenses including payroll, travel, food, and equipment.

Most of the ad budget – $29 million – was spent on traditional television advertising and the costs of making those ads, representing a shift to the general campaign after Mitt Romney cinched the Republican nomination. But the campaign continued to spend big on online advertising, dropping more than $5 million last month.

The campaign and the Obama Victory Fund had $114 million cash on hand at the end of May.

The DNC raised an additional $6.7 million last month, and the Obama campaign transferred $13.3 million, bringing the committee’s total haul in May to about $20 million.

Obama’s fundraising last month was also powered by high dollar events with celebrities like George Clooney.

Elizabeth Warren’s Birthday Gift From GOP: An Ancestry.com Account….
    Touché.

    Via ABC News:

Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren turns 63 today, and among her birthday gifts is one she probably won’t appreciate very much. She’s in a tight race against the GOP incumbent, Scott Brown. The state’s Republican party announced this morning that it is gifting Warren, a Harvard Law professor, with a complimentary account at ancestry.com.

“Since Professor Warren has failed to come up with any evidence supporting her claims to Native American ancestry, we thought this Ancestry.com account would make the perfect birthday gift,” said Massachusetts Republican Party executive director Nate Little in a statement.

Warren has come under fire in recent months for identifying herself as Native American in law school directories based on a blood line that she said goes far back, though there has not yet been primary documentation to back up her claim.

The Warren campaign did not immediately respond to ABC News’s request for comment.

Rasmussen: Mitt the Viking Romney 48%, Preezy Hussein Obama 43%
    [IMG]
In related news, Barack’s popularity remains high with insects.

(Rasmussen Reports) — The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 48% of the vote, while President Obama earns 43%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided.

The president picks up support from just 35% of white voters overall. That’s eight points below the 43% of the white vote he won in 2008. Among white Democrats, 17% currently plan to vote for Romney.

Just 33% now believe the president is doing a good or excellent job when it comes to the economy. That’s down from 41% at the beginning of May.

I am the only salesman at a small company and since I came on board three years ago sales have at least doubled with a very significant portion directly attributable to my efforts and the rest of the increase to an overall better economy.

Entering year 4 now and still no mention of a raise.

My boss is staunchly conservative from a business standpoint and a voting standpoint and I am smart enough to avoid conflict so we get along fine......except for that little matter of a raise.

I have to believe this same scenario exists all over the country because of the "uncertainty" among business owners regarding Obama....yada yada yada.

So.....if what I need to get a raise is my boss just "feeling better" about things.....more certain...yada yada yada... regardless of how things could actually get effed up beyond all recognition then I am all for Romney in a landslide..... 8) :D

Good, practical thinking, Dave. Try being a moderate Dem like me. At least that way you'll be able to see a hint of reason in the conservatives' thinking.

Yet Another Democrat To Skip DNC Convention, Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill…
    [IMG]
Second Senator of the day to bow out.

    Via TPM:

Claire McCaskill will not be attending the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, a McCaskill aide confirmed to TPM Tuesday. McCaskill joins a list of vulnerable Democratic politicians whose home districts are hostile ground for President Obama and who will be steering clear of the convention.

“In years when Claire is on the ballot, she has historically not gone to the convention,” the aide said, “because she believes it’s important to stay in Missouri to talk to voters.”

The aide stressed that McCaskill did not attend the 2004 Democratic National Convention, when she was running for governor of Missouri.

The aide said the decision was just made Tuesday afternoon.

Another Dem Senator To Skip DNC Convention, Montana’s Jon Tester…
    [IMG]
Charlotte now more radioactive than Chernobyl.

    Via Ballot Box:

Both Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) will skip their parties’ upcoming national conventions, their campaigns told The Hill on Monday, in order to concentrate on their Senate race.

A campaign spokesman said Rehberg would remain in Montana to focus on his campaign against the freshman senator rather than attend the convention in Tampa, Fla., in August. Tester’s campaign quickly followed suit to say they would skip the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., which is the week after the GOP gathering.

While a number of vulnerable Democratic incumbents have said they won’t attend their party’s gathering, Rehberg is the first Republican to take a similar approach.
