This game is on ESPN at the moment and it should be interesting to watch the future stars we will be hoping for at our favorite colleges. If you have never heard of Belle Glade much less been there you need to know it's on the SE corner of Lake Okeechobee. It sits on the muck that grows the sugar cane grown in the area and is about as far away as you can get from big time high schools. Just think remote, poor and where the love of football rivals any Texas town.

There has been a lot of HS Football this weekend on TV.

BTW: One of my favorite summer replacement shows is one called "The Glades" Main character works for the FDLE (Fla Dept of Law Enforcement) and a lot of bad guys end up in swamps or canals.

Honestly I don't know enough of the facts to be sure but I will give you the edge. Glades Central might have 800 students if they are lucky and is probably as far as you can get from a population center as any high school in the state. It is not where I would want to live if that says anything and that's not because of the color of my skin....

I couldn't afford the divorce payments once my wife found out where I was moving her to.... :D

    ha!

Oh yeah, I don't mean to belittle the amazing achievements and products of BG. It's truly something to behold, especially on a per capita basis.

Long Beach Poly is just a machine. It's a HS of 4000+ kids that is predominantly black and Samoan. Unlike a lot of other urban high schools there are lots of dads and family units in the area. There are tons of dock and harbor workers. These are traditionally tough people from tough families that have a healthy dose of the hood thrown in.

I hate to break it down in racial demographics, but that's just how it is in Long Beach. Poly is mostly black/Samoan middle to lower middle class. Jordan is almost strictly hood. Millikan is almost all white/hispanic... middle to upper middle class and they play the hell outta some baseball.
