Thank God for the San Diego Padres... All the experts wrote off the Dodgers, because they started the season with TEN players on the DL, including several starting pitchers. They did "nothing" to help their team in the off-season and they "dumped salary." They hired a rookie manager; started their youngest shortstop since 1944 and acquired some pitcher from the Hiroshima Carp. So how are they really doing? In their opener, the Dodgers beat the Padres 15-0... which is the largest opening day blow-out in the history of baseball. They also pitched Clayton Kershaw who gave up one hit... Tonight they pitched Maeda-san, with many of his fanatic followers in the stands wearing their Hiroshima jerseys. Not only did he pitch a shutout, but he hit a HR too. This was the third consecutive shutout by the Dodgers pitching staff to start the season, tying a record set by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1963. Undefeated, untied and unscored upon is not a bad way to begin... The Padres are worse than pathetic. The crowds down there are about 2/3 Dodgers fans according to Vin Scully. So its like playing at Dodger Stadium. The Padres players appear to be disinterested, apathetic, lifeless and several of them are being paid more than $20 million per year...
I hope Kazmir can keep it up, he's a Houston guy. I'd hoped he would finish his career as an Astro but it was not to be.
  Kazmir looked fabulous, as did Kershaw and Maeda-san. The problem here is the middle relief. We're holding our breath with those guys...
