Two really good games. Dodgers are for real! But last night, they took a one way trip to "Mo-Town"

Last night was a pitcher's classic between Kershaw and Kuroda-san. All batters were strangled until very late in the game, when Puig made another mental error...

BTW- Vin Scully was at the top of his game broadcasting the recent Yankees visit to Dodger Stadium. He's almost the perfect observer for this rivalry. He grew up in the Bronx, where he was a Giant's fan. He recited the history between the two teams: how they've faced-off in 11 World Series; how six of the managers of those teams went to the Hall of Fame; how Casey Stengel was a former Dodger player and Leo Durocher was a former Yankee player etc.

His personal stories were the best. He was talking about "Yankee class." Scully noted that this is a real thing that people can notice for themselves when they observe current Dodger Manager Don Mattingly, who's a former Yankee player. Then he added this example...

Game 3 of the 1963 World Series was one of the greatest pitching duels in history. The Dodgers Don Drysdale beat Yankee's ace Jim Bouton 1-0 at Dodger Stadium. Following the game, Scully was having dinner with Dodgers coach Leo Durocher at a Hollywood restaurant, when a young guy walked in, stared at them for a moment, then sent a note to their table. The note was from Jim Bouton, and he was picking up the tab for both of them. No hard feelings. As Vin Scully says, "That's Yankee class..."

Waite Hoyt was that way when he did play by play for the Reds in the 50s and early 60s. You used to pray for rain so you could listen to his stories. He played for the Yankees and roomed with The Babe in 1927. Or as he said, he roomed with Babe's suitcase.

He was succeeded in the booth by Al Michaels and then by Marty Brenneman. The Reds too have been blessed in the booth like dem Bums.
