"Now, an examination by The New York Times of police and court records, along with interviews with crime witnesses, has found that, far from an aberration, the treatment of the Winston complaint was in keeping with the way the police on numerous occasions have soft-pedaled allegations of wrongdoing by Seminoles football players. From criminal mischief and motor-vehicle theft to domestic violence, arrests have been avoided, investigations have stalled and players have escaped serious consequences.

In a community whose self-image and economic well-being are so tightly bound to the fortunes of the nation’s top-ranked college football team, law enforcement officers are finely attuned to a suspect’s football connections. Those ties are cited repeatedly in police reports examined by The Times. What’s more, dozens of officers work second jobs directing traffic and providing security at home football games, and many express their devotion to the Seminoles on social media."

Doesn't bode well for Gurley. Things keep piling up on Winston. Academic problems at Notre Dame. Maybe the old saying should be modified. Money corrupts, a lot of money corrupts a lot.

I think big time college football is at a major crossroad.

College football fans looked the other way, as did 'entertainment sports television' so they could perpetuate the myth of Bobby Bowden. I don't blame Bowden. He was always a god damned fraud. I blame everyone who looked the other way. They would take his goofy ass excuses which were shameful and we'd treat them as 'country time cute.' It was all greeted with a wink and a nod.

Now a girl gets raped and it's not so funny.

George is potentially right. This could be a crossroads moment for college football.

For many reasons I agree that College Football is definitely at a major cross road.

There are varying degrees of corruption at most major football factories. Anytime you get the amounts of money involved that all of our favorite schools generate, you have a great potential for improprieties. As with all aspects of life, money changes everything.

We all want "our teams" to win the NC. And we are willing to rationalize and look the other way at situations that we know deep down inside are wrong. In the current case of FSU and Winston, you have the nations largest newspapers stating that both the university and the Tallahassee police are crooked and involved in a coverup. This is what it has come down to.

Read " The System " . You won't believe what goes on behind the scenes.

Oh I believe and have been saying it forever..but to keep the peace here, it's just easier to move on.

I would add, I'm not sure some folks should read that book. They are comfortable in their level of denial and reading that book could put them off the game forever.
