Little Left-Wing America Will Be Bankrupt By Friday

    Home - by BigFurHat - June 9, 2012 - 21:00 America/New_York - 21 Comments

Detroit’s mayor, Dave Bing, says they will be completely bankrupt after they meet payroll one last time this coming Friday.

    Good job, lefties!

I can’t wait to see the riots on the Tee Vee when the public sector contracts go unfulfilled. It’s gonna be a Greek tragedy.

Wisconsin citizens, enjoy watching. There, but for the grace of Scott Walker, go you. He wouldn’t let Madison and Milwaukee go the way of Detroit (who will now have to be bailed out by the rest of the good citizens of Michigan) and you recognized this and rewarded him by defending him from the recall by the parasites of society.

The reason that Detroit will be running out of money this week is because of their Corporate Counsel. The city and the state worked out and signed a "consent agreement" that allows the city to operate under strict financial guidelines with the states help. The city's Corporate Councel filed suit claiming that the agreement the city agreed to is illegal. Thanks to the F'n dumb suit there's no help coming from the state.
The idiots who run Detroit are just like the folks running California. The city expects a state welfare check and the state thinks the rest of the country will bail them out. It's just a financial Katrina with morons who lack any responsibility forthemselves want to stand there screaming for the government to save them.

I don't know much about Detroit. I've never been there, but I posted that, because as Mike said, it does remind me of what's happening here in California. If our politicians can't get their act together now, large areas of the Golden State will look exactly like Detroit 10-15 years down the road. Some suburbs, like Compton, look like that now.

There may be a Wisconsin-style state amendment to the California Constitution on the ballot this November. That might save the day if it passes, but the statewide Civil War that results will make Wisconsin look like Alice's TEA Party. (Pun intended.) Remember, a lot of those crazy, drum banging, drug taking, Marxist teachers that you saw on television in Wisconsin were actually flown in there from California. If the battle is here, teachers in places like Los Angeles, who get free medical care; pay no Social Security; get to "buy back" benefits if they're married to another teacher; and make an average of $110,000 per year for an annual work year of 165, seven-hour days will fight to the death to keep that system...

Michigan School Union Demands Members Bank Account, Credit Card Numbers To Guarantee Dues Payments…
    [IMG]
    Via Michigan Capitol Confidential:

A union president’s letter shows one school employee union planned to handle automatic dues collection of its members by demanding full payment at the start of the year or requiring its members to give a checking or savings account number or credit card for automatic monthly withdrawals.

Debbie Bence, president of the Plymouth-Canton Cafeteria Association, sent a letter to her union members on June 4 stating that the dues had to be paid as a condition of employment.

Bence said the financial information would be kept confidential and kept at the Michigan Education Association headquarters. News reports state that uinon dues to the MEA are capped at $778 a year.

Bence and MEA Spokesman Doug Pratt haven’t returned messages seeking comment.

Public Act 53 became effective March 16 and prohibited union dues from being automatically deducted from payroll. However, one day after Bence’s letter was dated, a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction that blocked the law until the legal process plays out.

Was up in No. Cal 2 mos. ago and drove from SF down to Fresno and back.

I remember thinking the reason I saw zero CHP was because the state is broke and has cut the force.

That may work in No. Cal but it would be deadly in Detroit.

Detroit died slowly over a period of decades and California is dying now. If the Golden State doesn't reform it's pension system and the power of public employee unions, it's only a question of time...

    On the teacher issue....

I predict very soon that there will be a serious shortage nationwide of skilled teachers in the K-12 U.S. public schools.

These young graduates know a suck ass occupation when they see it and no state government....especially those run by the GOP seems to appreciate or be able to afford these young people making a decent living.

And the GOP sentiment I read here is pretty cold about them also so WTF....why should any smart, capable college graduate opt for a life of being poor and underappreciated.

The average teacher in Los Angeles makes over $100,000 per year, for 170 days of work out of 365 days on the calendar. They pay nothing for health care; they pay no Social Security; they work a 7 hour day, with a half hour lunch included; they can retire at age 55 with only 10 years of service; and they can "buy back" unused benefits.

Consider that last one. Let's say you're a female, elementary school teacher, and your husbund is a cop in the LAPD. Since he also has free medical care, she can "buy back" her unused medical benefit of $800 per month. This gives her another $9600 in cash every year ON TOP of her annual salary of $105,000 and her medical is still free under her husband's plan...

Gee whiz...why would any kid right out of college want a deal like that? The truth is obvious. Very few new teachers can even find one of these jobs. You see......they can't force teachers to retire either......and tenure prevents them from being fired... So young teachers often have to wait YEARS for one of these jobs to come open, and work as substitutes, teacher's helpers, and tutors in the meantime.

Wow.....Cali stands alone it seems in K-12 compensation.

Cut the pay and bennies by 2/3 and multiply the hours worked by 1.5 and you have the teachers pay and work hours in Florida.

Here in NJ we have around 560-570 school districts in a state that has only 21 counties and that you can drive north to south in three hours and east to west in 90 minutes.

Everybody gets a piece of the action, much like the Mafia. In my town I pay education taxes to two different entities and that money comprises 71% of my total tax bill. Elementary school teachers here in my town start at around $45-50K. In few years they will be in the $65-75K range. They will top out in the $90K range. Every school is top heavy with administration, a Principal, two or three Vice Principals, etc. they all make six figures. The local BOE is filled with highly paid fat cats as well with the top dog making well over $200K.

Sadly, the performance scores of the students are heading in the opposite direction.

Locals believe that the truck and items were sold by the Secret Service agents to pay for hookers. :)

We have a better system here in Los Angeles. The LAPD arrests them......, then the jury lets them go...
