Anybody else watching these guys? They are rapidly coming back to the pack... lead down to 6.5 games.
Hitting a speed bump. Lost today when Sox got 4 unearned runs. Lost wed. to Minn who got 3 infield singles to win game. It happens. They still have the best and deepest pitching in baseball. No panic in Motown.....yet!
If the Sox' (White, that is) starting pitching comes around to expectations, a la Contreras last night and Buerhle today, they should be the strongest team in the league at the end. The moves they made before the trade deadline have strengthened their middle and late relief. Their offensive lineup is murderous in the middle. The Tigers, on the other hand, also have a murderous offensive lineup and - so far - the strongest starting pitching in MLB. It's shaping up to be an exciting race in the AL Central. IMO, the 1-2 teams in that division will go to the playoffs. The Twins suffered a devastating loss when Liriano went down. It could spell doom for them. As strong as the Red Sox' hitting is, I don't see their pitching holding up. The Yankees IMO are the X factor in the mix. Wright pitched very well today, which is necessary for them to hold onto the lead in the AL East, which I believe they will do.
 Tiger pitchers are mighty young. Pudge may have to personally carry this bunch across the finish line...
