Was this Kentucky derby run in Auburn, Al. and where are those stewards from... Opelika? Beauregard? I just cant see what was so different about 20 horses galloping in a tight bunch in this race vs. others I have seen. What am I missing here? If Maximum Security goes on to stay undefeated and wins the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes in his mind he has won the Triple Crown.... and in my mind too.
The owner of Max Security says he might not race the rest of the Triple Crown. The Derby might have been a bad decision or not by the Stewards, but I doubt it was fixed from the outset or that there was some grudge against the horse that influenced their decision.
Terry then that would differentiate what happened in Louisville on Sat. vs. what happens some Saturdays in Auburn, Al.
Maybe so. I never think of horse racing as having bias in the calls. Just doesn't seem to be any incentive for a homer ref, like in football.
It certainly didn't look as bad as some of the things that I have seen in past races. I don't know much about horse racing but that didn't seem bad enough to be the first winner disqualification ever.
"Just doesn't seem to be any incentive for a homer ref, like in football." Yeah but sometimes it's not what you know but who you know......
Good grief, I have to agree with Terry and Corey. And what happens in Auburn on football Sat is controlled by SEC refs not Auburn locals, give me a break.
C'mon guys...the only thing that surprises me about this thread and it's author is....that the race wasn't Dubya's fault.
Maximum Security is currently shacked up at Monmouth Park which is one of my best customers. I'm going over there tomorrow on business. One of my stops is Stable Security. I'm going to see if they'll let me have a look at the desperado and I wll ask him why he cheated. If he answers I'll report back.
