Defensive end Talley leaves No. 9 Notre Dame Oct. 12, 2006 CBS SportsLine.com wire reports SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame defensive end Ronald Talley has decided to leave the football team after starting four games this season. The school said Thursday the decision was mutually agreed upon. Ninth-ranked Notre Dame is off this week and next plays again Oct. 21 against UCLA. In six games, Talley, a 6-foot-4, 262-pound junior from Detroit, had 11 tackles. Chris Frome, who started the other two games at right defensive end, had 12 tackles, five of them solo. Nobody knows what's going on here. It can't be a playing time issue, and it's not likely he's got academic problems. Also no problems with the law or university that have come out. Just seems odd, we certainly could use him the rest of the year. He's not a great DE, but our numbers are low on the DL so he would continue to play. The only thing I can even think about is that he was asked to move to DT and would not do it and maybe Charlie told him if he wouldn't then he'd probably not see much playing time in the future. So Talley decided that he'd move on to someplace where he could continue to play DE. Terry

From the Weis Press Conference: Sounds to me like a kid not happy with spliting time with another kid or a kid who doesn't want to move inside to DL. He's another Ty recruit. Terry
