Don't be fooled by 3 points given up. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10329807 Florida's young defense ( 9 new starters) looks like a problem to me if not corrected soon. And by corrected I mean young players getting better with experience. WKU had a Qb open the game effectively named Wolke ( ex-ND Qb) and he looked pretty damned good but he was hurt at the end of their first and only real real drive. I am sure they could have scored more points with him at Qb. In any event UF will have huge problems vs. Tenn unless big improvement is made this Sat.
CAL would've hung 60 points on the Gators if the Gators had ventured to Berkley. I think the fact that Tenn already has a very tough road game in a hostile atmosphere under their belts gives them a huge advantage in the UF/Tenn game.
"CAL would've hung 60 points on the Gators if the Gators had ventured to Berkley" I know that is hyperbole on your part Terry but it would definitely be a track meet.
I'm just saying that the Tenn defense is more experienced than the Gator defense and it was just luck that they didn't give up 52 points. Logic dictates that the Gators likely couldn't have played any better on defense. Of course the Gators didn't play so it is all speculation and we get to see Tenn/UF pretty soon for comparison.
That's true Terry...we will see soon. I think UF has every bit the playmakers and speed that Cal has on offense and in the kick return game and I think the Gators have a better Qb in Tebow. On defense I don't know about Cal too much except they seemed pretty soft most of the night and gave up the underneath stuff consistently.
We need to be kind of careful attaching to much significance to the 2nd half of the Troy game. The Gators stopped them cold in the 1st half and had a 49-7 lead at halftime. I don't think we showed anything in the 2nd half other than vanilla defense. We played everyone we had on defense in the 2nd half. On offense we pretty much stuck with the starters. I'm not sure why we didn't put in some bench players, especially the QB. But I imagine it had a lot to do with lack of execution in the 3rd quarter.
Caldwell is in all likelihood out but it seems as though Brandon James will be able to play. The offense loses experience and maybe a little speed with Caldwell out. Losing Caldwell is big and ya gotta hope the young guy asked to step up does just that. Could shift some of the prodcution over to Cornelius Ingram ........ at least I hope it does.
