Heading into Sept, and only 6 games out of 1st, the RedBirds are once again jockeying their way into position for another run at Oct magic. By taking the 1st game of a series in Cincy last night, the Cards made a statement that the road to the ring goes through St. louie. Home filed advantage?....We don't need no stinkin' home field advantage....
8) If we need more players to beat you, we'll just buy them. http://aol.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2012-08-25/dodgers-red-sox-trade-josh-beckett-adrian-gonzalez-carl-crawford-james-loney ........The New Evil Empire......JO'Co
Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat as a Dodger tonight. He's batting .300 with power and his presence in the cleanup spot of the batting order changes everything. The Dodger lineup now goes right, left, right, left, right all the way down to #8. For weeks, NL teams have been pitching around Matt Kemp who was 0-26 starting the week and shutting down Andre Ethier with lefthanded pitchers. Now all of that is in the rearview mirror. The current lineup goes: 1. Victorino 2. Ellis 3. Kemp 4. Gonzalez 5. Ramirez 6. Ethier 7. Rivera 8. Ellis 9. Kershaw The effect was immediate. Kemp had three hits in his first three at-bats and Andre Ethier broke the Dodger record by hitting in 10 consecutive at-bats. He goes for the MLB record of 12 tomorrow. Opposing pitchers must now pitch to the entire lineup. This will work... The former Red Sox players acted like guys who had just been let out of prison. I have no idea of what has been going on in Boston, but it must be bad. These guys have been grinning from ear to ear since they got here. Gonzalez, Beckett and Punto Twitted a picture of themselves flying out here with a caption that said, "Flying first class!" Suggesting that the Red Sox were somewhat less than that. Carl Crawford is as happy as anyone and we're happy to have all four. None of them has to be a star here. All they have to do is help out and have fun. The Dodgers gave up nothing to get them. James Loney had no job here and he's a free agent anyway. Ruby De La Rosa returned from Tommy John surgery last Wednesday, after being out for a year. De Jesus Jr. had no future here after shattering his ankle two years ago. Webster is a low-level minor league pitcher and Jerry Sands has failed to stick in several call-ups to the big club. This was a pure salary dump by Boston: the biggest in history. The new Dodger owners have money to burn and they're not done yet. The sky really is the limit. Remember, these are the same owners who overpaid more than half a BILLION dollars to buy the team. A good example of their management style is what's happening in left field. The Dodgers now have Shane Victorino, Carl Crawford, Juan Rivera and they paid millions for a super, Cuban defector named Puig, who's only 21 years-old. Money is no problem... We would raid the Yankees, but they don't have anyone that we want...heh...heh... .................Evil Steinbrenner JO'Co...
LOL...that's my luck...post a smack talk about my Cards, then an hour later, the LAD's pull off a huge deal... Speaking of Luck, I found out that I have to attend a symposium for one day in D.C. on Aug 30th.....I fly out the 29th and come back that Friday. I have never been to Nationals park before, and was hoping to catch a game while there. As luck would have it, the Nats are at the Marlins on the 29th, then they come back home on the 30th to start a 3 game series with.......
Yeah, it great, JoCo. Dee Gordon was to be my cornerstone for rebuilding my roto team into a dynamo next year. Now, it looks like my cornerstone has become a second string shrub.
:?: I don't know what the Dodgers are going to do with Dee Gordon. They have several guys to play shortstop, including Hanley Ramirez. They can't play everyone, so somebody will have to go. In leftfield it's even worse. They owe Carl Crawford about $150 million and they also pay Shane Victorino $10 million per season to play there and they have Juan Rivera too. But there's more... Earlier this year they purchased a Cuban defector named Yasiel Puig for $46 million. Where are they going to play all these guys? I wish I had an answer, but the truth is, I don't think the new owners have figured out what they want to do yet. They're just throwing large wads of cash against the wall to see if anything sticks... ................Sticky Situation......JO'Co
The owners are probably going through the sofa cushions looking for spare change. $125 million for Carl Crawford. That's about $500,000 per base hit. 8)
