So says CFN in their preseason rankings. Maybe that analysis is more like #2.... http://cfn.scout.com/2/990840.html In any event I am starting to see this kind of talk about the pups and I am beginning to think Fla-Ga tickets will be hard to come by this year and I want to go to the game with my son. Calling Gator Bill....any line on Fla-Ga tickets?
Just proves why you should not believe everything you read. How can you rank a team #3 with quotes like: and... It might pan out for Georgia. But I am wondering if they are an actual dark horse, or a dead horse.
This talk about Georgia being better has been surfacing lately and I am more like you.....I am a skeptic.
Not this year it is beginning to appear. Even in a bad year for Ga-Fl I don't think that equation would be true. Maybe 6 for 2.....8 tops. I would trade 2 LSU-UF tickets straight up for 2 Ga-Fl tickets.
Ok I'm ALMOST finished celebrating. Now I start worrying. We should be very good on offense, our DL will be good also. DB's very talented but very young. What really worries me is special teams. All of our kicking candidates are still learning their way from their dorm to their classes, and trying to get their IKEA boxes to the dumpster.
I hear ya, KP...I'm seeing a lot of people picking Alabama as pre-season #1, and I sure hope they are right, but I don't see it, at least not now. No question the running game should be excellent, but I think the passing game has to improve. If I'm not mistaken, we were 8th in passing in the SEC last year. I'd like to see Julio get the ball even more than he did last year. This might be wishful thinking, but I'd like to see situations where the run game is established early (and throw in a little wildcat with M. Ingram!), forcing the D to bring everybody up, then a nice play action by Gmac down the field. On D, the front 7 should be solid, but I really hope we hear from the NCAA soon regarding M. Dareus--if he's out any length of time, it definitely could be a problem. Just like it says in that review, there is a lot of talent in the secondary, but they are very inexperienced. And I agree--it's special teams that is a huge question mark. Not only in the kicking game, but Javy Arenas' returns will be missed.
Bryan and Kp.... Last year the chemistry was right....the luck was right... ( re: Tenn )....and you caught Fla at the right time and took advantage as you did Texas when McCoy went out early. That takes nothing away from last year....it was a well deserved NC...great job. But as the Gators learned last year what happened the year before was the year before and I think it is very....very...difficult in college football to repeat these days and I do not expect Bama to do that.
What was Rainey talking about when he said this years Gators don't have the "prima donnas" that they had last year?
Who knows Terry. But don't look for him to talk to the press much this year. He is one of my favorite players. However I think that you could find someone on the team that could be called Prima Donnas. So my observation would be, that just like every other team in the country we will have some prima donnas, but not the same ones as last year because some of them are gone.
Bryan, I worry alot about the kicking game. A big, big question mark. Defensive backs... another big question mark. I believe that defense wins championships and while ours will be good it will not be the wall that it was last year. I think our offense will score alot of points but defense wins championships. I would not be surprised at 2 losses this season because of pass coverage and missed field goals/extra points. MCG, It is a safe bet every year to say that any particular team will not win. The tougher bet is saying who will win.
My bet is that OSU squeaks by Miami and goes on to Glendale. Not saying they win there but they will play in the title game. I can't predict the winner of that game because I have no clue who their opponent might be.
MCG's opinion of Carlos Dunlap is his not mine. Bryan, that is so true. At this point I would be willing to take the field against any one team. That was also true for me this time last year when that one team would have been Florida.
Synonyms for prima donna: conceited person, crybaby, egotist, narcissist, princess, self-centered person, spoiled brat, vain person This may be the reason for Rainey's negative description for some who are not at Florida this year. My bet is he is referring specifically to Dunlap at least. Hey...everything I have read this offseason with regard to the results of last season and where the team is headed this year of course points to the Bama game more than any other.....including the Sugar Bowl. It was that game in Atlanta obviously that held the team short of it's goals and ultimately the success they wanted to have and were predicted to have. I have read comments from players and fans that basically search for some answers as to why the team played so uncharacteristically vs. Bama. Not trying take away from the Tide because everyone admits we got our asses handed to us that day but the team has not come to the conclusion that they gave their all....played their best etc. and even if that was truly the case it's not what they feel so comments like Rainey's come out in press conferences and interviews. Heck...if UF wins that game I don't think you see Rainey's comments or anything resembling it from any player on the team.
