I wondering if for a lot of schools this isn't the best way to go, go out and find a guy who will come in for a year and get acclimated and then take over. Naturally you have to have a head coach who is ok with retiring! :shock:
That's great article, Stu. I'm happy for Purdue. He will maintain the high level of competitiveness that Tiller has brought to the program, which despite the past few so-so years has been admirable. The Irish certainly have been stung by Tiller teams several times during his reign. I will resist the temptation to play on his last name. There will be plenty of that going forward. :wink:
That's good article and what Purdue is doing different is they have a time frame for the successor to become the head coach. I do wonder though how the relationship will be between the incumbent his successor. In this case the future guy has worked with the head coach before and there is a time limit. I think it makes sense to groom your own sometimes.
