It was mentioned in a Notre Dame topic recently that Dan Wenger might transfer to Florida, I said at that time I had not heard anything about it. Well it's apparently true. I read, but don't have a link, that he is indeed transferring to Florida and has been cleared to play. Just FYI
Bill, it was reported a few days ago in Notre Dame news. I don't know about anyone else, but it's a non-issue for me. I only hope he's not making a mistake. I guess he was cleared to play by some medical people, but the last I heard he had not been cleared to play by ND's doctors.
I agree Sid, hope he is not making a mistake. It's no issue with me, I was just correcting what I had said when asked before if I had heard anything. At that time I hadn't.
Good luck to him, he's a quality kid but with his head injury history I am very surprised that he wants to continue to play and more importantly that he has been cleared to play.
Matt Romine, former ND OL, who was not offered a 5th year by Brian Kelly is enrolling in Graduate School at Tulsa and will play football. Like Wenger he will take advantage of the NCAA rule that allows Sr's who have graduated to not have to sit out a year to be eligible to play when they transfer. Good luck to him as well.
:!: I think Wenger is crazy for playing. I understand his love for the game, but he's betting his life with this gambit. I had a friend like him on our high school football team. He suffered more than a dozen concussions playing guard and linebacker. Twenty-seven years later he dropped dead in the shower at age 45 of a massive brain hemorrhage. I hope this doesn't happen to Wenger.
I hope he isn't making a mistake also JO'Co. He obviously feels he can play and my understanding is he has received clearance so I guess we have to see how it goes. I am not completely comfortable with this for his sake.
