Little Aiden James got to go to his first MLB game tonight. The Cubs pitcher tossed a no-hitter. That's the 2nd time the Dodgers have been no-hit in 9 days. I don't think we'll be taking him to another game any time soon...

BTW- my family has now seen three no-hitters without me. Dave Francis just missed this one too. He was at the game the night before...

Also Dodgers thought the should have gotten a hit that was scored an error on the shortstop. At least it was their own scorer that made that determination and not the Cubs guy at Wrigley.

The error was on the 2b. I agreed with it at the time. I didn't understand Kruk's reaction, other than he is sympathetic to hitters. Great game for the Cubs and for Jake Arrieta. Despite a tough road trip to SF and LA, they are 5.5 games up on the Giants for the #2 wild card spot.

Alex Wood actually pitched pretty well for the Dodgers. He had one mistake, a 2 run HR to Chris Bryant. I like Chase Utley for his defense and for maturity in the Dodgers' locker room. On TV, they said he can play 3b when Howie Kendrick returns.

Here's another quirky stat re: last night. The Doders are the 1st team in MLB history to throw 2 no-hitters in one season and be no-hit twice the following season.

Cubs have some big bopper down in AAA that is supposedly coming up with the roster enlargements in Sept. I read an article on him, huge power guy, they said the ball just explodes off his bat, but has battled some injuries that have held him back. Can't remember who he is though.

I have a (rather impatient) friend who has a short attention span. He was in Toronto one time and he and his wife went to a Blue Jays game. He got bored and left after five innings. Dave Steib threw a no hitter. My friend maintains that he would have stayed had he known...and they should advertise those things in advance.

When he and I later went to a Cleveland-Marlins World Series game (it snowed!) I made sure that I drove there...so he had to sit out the whole thing.

    FWIW...

It was an error on the 2nd baseman: not a hit. Kruk is the worst color man I've ever heard. He's even worse than Tony Kubek and that's saying something.
